The reviews about it being cheaply made are keeping me away from it.

I am addicted to these. But the case easily gets dirty (especially around ear hole) and doesn't clean well. And I don't bother to flip it when I reverse direction--the difference between the front and back isn't that noticeable to me.

I bought these twice. The first time I gave one to a friend who had to lie on one side for a month 24/7 because his cornea was detaching and they had injected something in his eye to make it heal. He said it saved his life because the ear hole made it tolerable.
I love these pillows and I use them to sleep on my back too. That little ear hole keeps your head centered no matter what position you use. They cradle my neck so nicely. I use them backwards too because I wrap my arms around the long part and it keeps me from rolling on them and having them go numb. This is my pillow now and I have tried many many pillows

I had one of these for a long time and loved it. When it got all worn out and gross, I bought myself a Temperpedic knock off side sleeper that I like even more. But if you don't know if you're going to like a side sleeper pillow, this is the one to try, because the price is way better on the off chance that you don't like side-sleepers.

I bought some on ebay. I'm not fond of the cases that come on these pillows. They're thin and the zipper broke too easily. I absolutely love these pillows!

I don't have a problem using this pillow with my mask. It must depend on the type of mask you have.

The pillows themselves are not made cheaply, imo. Mine have held up REALLY well....and I'm pretty tough on pillows. The cover that comes with them is what needs to be made better.

They're sold in the "as seen on TV" section of stores for 19.99 EACH. That was the first one I ever bought. Those, of course, come in a cardboard package with pretty color pictures of people sleeping with them. These come packaged as a pair in plastic only. No pretty package. But they are just as good, imo. First time I bought them on Woot, I think they were 19.99 for the pair. So this price is even better.

LOVE MINE. (Am buying more today as gifts, plus "spares" for myself.) I also have one I reserve for hotel use on trips. I take them camping. I have a really hard time sleeping without them now.

ThunderThighs wrote:I kinda figured the other would be on the bed.

I flop around too much to use this as a pillow on the bed. I do really like it on the couch though.

I flop around on the bed a lot, too....which is why I keep 3-4 of these on the bed.

I keep one on each side of my head (each already facing the correct way for that side, although I agree that that doesn't really matter much), so that when I roll from side to side, my head will roll right into the other pillow, without having to lift my head to turn over on a single pillow.

Other good uses:
1. Between the knees/legs.
2. Good lower back/horizontal lumbar support AND vertical back support when reclining on the bed/sofa/chair/car if you turn it like a "u" shape---I'm assuming that's how you do it, TT? The round portion supports the small of your back, and the "arms" of it are vertical, giving support to your paraspinal muscles without pressing directly on the spine. (The spine goes into the space between the "arms" of the pillow.)
3. They can make a good laptop "holder" to raise it up to better typing level when you're sitting on the bed or even in a recliner (as long as you don't have an overheating issue.) I've found that this actually helps prevent my laptop from overheating as opposed to it sitting directly on the comforters---because when you do THAT, it sinks down into them, which blocks the heat outflow fan. I'm using one of these pillows for that right now, in fact. (Because it's already on the bed, and the "real" laptop stand doesn't live in the bed like the pillow does.)
4. If your.....um.....hiney is sore for any reason, these are as good to sit on as donut pillows. Those really only have that one use, however. These pillows are multitaskers.
5. My widdle dog likes to curl up in his (he knows which is his and which ones are mine) and prop his cute little head up on the curved portion while his body is snuggly hugged on both sides.

Did I mention that I LOVE THESE PILLOWS AND CANNOT SLEEP WITHOUT THEM???

To each his/her own, of course, but I've never liked buckwheat pillows. Yes, you can heat or cool them, and yes, they smell lovely...especially if you spritz a light fragrance on them (they hold it better than fiberfill.)

But I can't sleep with all that noise. The crackling....directly in my EAR....wakes me up. Happens if I'm not even moving. Just the shifting of facial muscles moves the buckwheat enough to make an annoying (to me) noise. Does that not happen to you???

I bought these the last time Woot had them. My husband and I both like them, but the pillowcases are really flimsy - I've had to repair the seams on both of them in multiple places. On the plus side, it does encourage him to sleep on his side, which reduces the snoring.

I must be really lucky with mine. Have never had a single seam tear even a little bit. I do wish the fabric itself were better quality...and ANY color other than white. I keep intending to get my sewing machine out and just make some good pillowcases for them, but you know how that goes....

You just reminded me of another use for these, though!

They help provide good female positioning support for certain...um...intimate bedroom activities. ;-)

The back side of the pillow then supports your back, in a very nice way. These are excellent pillows, at an incredible price, and we have every pillow style invented, including the super expensive ones. (You might check out a full listing elsewhere for a description on the back support. It sort of forces you (gently) to sleep with better posture. And no chemical smell detected. If so just air them a day.)

Possibly. The learning curve isn't terribly steep, but it all depends upon individual abilities.

Amateurs such as yourself should always exercise an abundance of caution when starting out, of course, but if you are patient....and dedicate yourself to regular practice....I feel sure that you'll become a pro sleeper in no time and get paid for it like the rest of us.

Yes, I can confirm that. I'm looking at mine right now for you.
They come with a button holding the case together in the middle of the ear hole, which is an actual hole all the way through the pillow itself. The case indents into it on both sides, with the button holding that part of the case in position (your ear never touches the button, because it's down deep in the ear well.) All my buttons tore through (back to the poor-quality pillowcase fabric), but that didn't affect function.

Here is what I wrote back in October:
"I've had the pillows for almost a year now, and it is by far one of the most valuable purchases I have ever made.

I use the pillow every single night, switching to the spare every week. It has helped my neck pain tremendously, no more wasting money on that QUACK chiropractor.

My only complaint is the button for the ear well comes undone too easily. But I get over it. On a nightly basis. And feel better in the morning.

If these ever come up again, send me a message and I will buy again, because I know the ones I have won't last forever. They have lasted for about a year though, no busted seams, no stuffing coming out. Satisfied customer here."

And here is what I write today:

Just bought two more, as I said I would. I am absolutely thrilled with what these pillows do for my neck.

Another benefit of the ear well is that I can lay on my side and comfortably wear earbuds. I like to listen to music as I'm falling asleep to distract me from the tinitus. Wanna know what it sounds like? Use your smart phone and download one of the dog-whistle apps, select a frequency between 10kHz and 11kHz, put on your earphones and listen to that for 24 hours a day.

I wash the cases in the washing machine regularly and have not had any damage..

This pillow is fantastic for overnight flights and travel. It sits on your shoulder and gives a nice buffer between your head and the window (I've used it on both flights and trains) and actually lets me sleep on flights to Europe so I don't have to be a zombie during my first day of vacations...

I bought the two pack on woot a while back. The design is a great idea. The materials are horrible! The stuffing is just terrible. Do not waste your money. They should have made one quality pillow instead of two crappy ones!

I own a bunch of these. I sleep with one and also use them for neck pillows while reading or watching tv.

I will say, as others have mentioned, that yes the pillow case around the outside is pretty much hit or miss on if it starts to split or fray with normal use. Also the filling of the pillow is not particularly resilient as in they lose a great deal of their puffiness pretty quickly.

Doesn't matter though, I'd still recommend them. They're still very comfortable after they've lost some of that initial poof and they're just so inexpensive. Personally once they lose their poof I sleep with it on top of a second pillow to get it to the right height to keep my head and neck in a neutral position and it works like a charm.

If you snore or have minor thoracic back pain/discomfort, give 'em a shot.

Have one from a previous woot. Gave the other to my mother. Truly like the support when I can get it away from my cat who likes to curl up in the middle of it. Weird, I was just talking about it this morning before I checked woot. Mentioned how I was thinking about ordering another. Logged on to not only find them available today, but the writeup made the sale since my name is actually Craig...

I got these a while back on a previous Woot. Used one for a few weeks before giving up. Found it to be passably comfortable except that the covering was awful, scratchy, poorly made, and overall the worst thing ever. I had to sew up an old pair of sweatpants to form a makeshift pillowcase. This proved to be a smart move, because after that few weeks, the filling started spilling out into my newly made case.

I give these pillows a resounding "Meh."

The problem with designing anything to be completely foolproof is underestimating the ingenuity of complete fools. ~~Douglas Adams

Re: Your tinnitus. Do you by any chance take ibuprofen regularly? If so, read the teeny-tiny print of the product insert and you'll probably (hopefully) find the root of your problem. I had it for years in high school and college (to me it sounded like when a ballast for those large commercial fluorescent lights goes bad, except it was inside my ears, 24/7. Maddening!) The ibuprofen had been prescribed for me for something else, but no one ever mentioned that tinnitus was a (somewhat uncommon) side effect for some people. I stumbled across that info on my own by pure chance. Checked the med insert to confirm my source, and sure enough, tinnitus was listed as a potential side effect. When I stopped taking ibuprofen, it magically went away.

Might not be your particular cause, but just thought I'd mention it in case you could be lucky enough that a "cure" for you is as easy as was mine.

If you don't take ibuprofen, then please disregard this reply.

P.S. I like the ease of using earbuds with these pillows also, but just because I like to listen to soothing music, etc. as I drift off.
