I know these won't work for everyone, but for me these were really effective. I've had a snoring problem for a while now. Though this pillow did not eliminate my snoring, it reduced it enough that my wife can actually sleep through the night without me waking her up. If you are a snorer, I do recommend trying these out. Especially at this price.

I find mine work fine for neck troubles, but not so fine for shoulder comfort. As other folks have mentioned, the pillow is designed to have one comfortable position and you're not supposed to move much from that position.

I've actually done ok by using a regular jersey pillowcase over the whole thing and just wrapping the excess around the long arm of the pillow. A less-stretchy fabric like regular cotton pillowcases might not work as well for that.

I primarily use this for sleeping off migraines, along with a set of sleepphones (for white noise) and an eyemask. Before I had the sleepphones, I did use the pillow with earbuds, and it was more comfortable than a regular pillow because the earbuds can sit in the divot and not be pressed up uncomfortably.

Bought a pair last time. I still haven't opened the second pillow. Either I have broad shoulders or the pillow really ought to be thicker. I "fix" this by resting the pillow on 2 pillows on either side to increase the height of the whole. It's very comfortable that way, and I prefer it to sleeping without it.

Other people probably answered, but yes: the ear hole is on both sides of the pillow.

I bought these about a year ago because I'm a side sleeper, and I will wake up in the middle of the night with my ear killing me. The ear hole is nice, and it solved my problem, however imo, the pillow is too thick and firm. I thought about cutting about a third of the pillow off and trying it, but never actueally did it. I stop using mine after a few weeks because of the thickness of the pillow, and went back to having ear problems.

Bought these about a year ago to try and help alleviate the neck and shoulder pain that I frequently wake up with. Made several unsuccessful attempts to use them. Unfortunately, I tend to reposition several times during the night which makes these pillows pretty useless. I'd imagine they could work for people who sleep like the dead, though.

I bought these last time they were on Woot. They're comfy but pretty small. They look like body pillows in the picture but they're not. They fit just around the neck and a little across the chest. They're awkward to sleep on unless you don't move at all in your sleep. Honestly I've only used them a handful of times while watching tv. You don't have to lay sideways on them though, you can put your chin in the "ear hole" for watching tv or reading.

I bought these in September 2011 for $20. I have tried for over a year to love them, but I just can't. Mainly because I am a restless sleeper. I don't stay in one position for very long so once I move I have to adjust the pillow to realign everything.

I actually prefer a very firm pillow, so that part isn't an issue for me but I can see how if you like those fluffy, sleeping-on-a-cloud type pillows this pillow would not work for you.

And as far as "Wootonomics" go, I paid TWICE the price for these pillows than they are now but I am not complaining about it. That was the price at the time. I paid a lot more for my Wii when it came out than they sell for now, but I'm not demanding they give me a rebate - that's how supply and demand works!

Purchased when offered here last month. The nagging neck and shoulder pain I've had on my right side for over a year vanished when I began sleeping on this pillow. However, I haven't grown accustomed to sleeping with it correctly. I'm used to curling myself up in feather pillows, so now I wake up during the night reminding myself, chin up and straighten my spine! I'll continue using it because the lack of pain overrides the brief stirring and re-adjusting during the night.

I am hesitant to order these again as when they were on sale earlier in December the pillows never arrived and Woot refunded my purchase....

I bought these the last time.
It's a comfortable pillow for side-sleeping, and the earhole is good, but I often end up with my ear out of the hole.
I hate that I have to flip it over if I want to sleep on my other side.
For my sleeping tastes, I put a regular pillow under it, to make it higher.
I took the case off of one of them for washing, and the pillow itself was very cheaply sewn, with some of the seams splitting already. Need to have more pillow cases.
I'm constantly shopping for pillows, ever since the industry changed over to a fiberfill that is "slippery". This is not one of those. For the price, it's worth a try.

I love these pillows! This will be my third time buying. I broke my nose a couple years ago and side sleeping helps with the snoring that it caused. I also work shift work for the AF (change shifts every 3 months) so I have to adjust to sleeping all hours of the day and these pillows help me sleep uninterrupted.

We bought them, and liked them, but have gradually stopped using them.

1. I like more sleeping positions than these pillows accommodate, so after a couple nights, I started keeping a normal pillow on the bed too. If you have broad shoulders, the pillow probably won't hold your head in the position it should.

2. They don't look very nice on the bed. We intended to dye the pillow covers, which are extremely thin and made of cheap material, but never gotten around to it. Leaving them white means they start looking pretty dingy, and they are hard to get on and off for washing.

3. The pillow covers are so tight that the flimsy zippers broke after a couple months.

I eventually didn't put the sidesleeper pillow back on the bed after it fell off; my husband recently stopped using his too.

I noticed the same. Mine lasted a little over a year with lots of abuse (2 Europe trips and a cross country red eye, including all the dragging, stuffing, pulling, getting stuck on doors, etc. that happens when one travels) The ear hole button also no longer keeps the opposite side ear hole attached, but that's never affected my "use" of said pillow. I think I just need to stitch up the hole a bit. (that's what she said?)

I keep meaning to figure out how to make my own pillowcase for this, but 1. I keep forgetting to take a closer look and 2. I have no sewing skills of which to speak... (thinking of turning it inside out, tracing out the pieces, possibly taking an old case apart to reverse engineer it... any thoughts from those who can do more than reattach a button?)

Bought 4 at xmas time. No one liked them. The "extra case" is made from the same very thin muslim fabric as the pillow. It has a slight odor so you will want to block that with a traditional pillow case. The pillow has very little give (is hard) and is too wide. If you position your ear in the ear space the pillow pushes uncomfortably against your nose so you end up tilting your head to avoid this, which defeats the purpose of having your neck/head aligned. The pillow is very long. I can't imagine bringing it on a public plane as one reviewer said. Over all a poor design.

I got a set of two last year when I was in Afghanistan. I had one last me 10 months, which is good because I gave the other one to another guy in my unit. It was extra awesome because I slept with earbuds in (to kill the noise), and was super comfortable with the earholethingy.

In for two now!

Bought these in December. I really like the pillow - I'm a side sleeper and now have no neck or back pain in the morning. My wife turns a lot and isn't crazy about the pillow although she is still using it.

It is a very firm pillow which I like, and I don't have a problem turning over and using the pillow backwards - it's still comfortable.

The cover is the only drawback for me - feels like homespun, especially when the rest of the bedding is high threadcount sheets. It got better with washing, but it's still a little rough. You may want to make your own.

At the price it's worth taking a shot.

YEAH! Me too!!

And about the pillows.
The design is great, very comfy for my broad shoulders (for a girl) and my arm curls right up in front nicely while my neck and head are positioned just perfectly. However, I felt the fill material was much too hard and the cover was very scratchy. A king size pillowcase fits over it... but then the ear hole thing becomes problematic. Overall, not a fan.

I love these, but they're cheaply made. I got two less than a year ago and already one has completely fallen apart.

The "case" that it comes with is really flimsy cotton and the whole deal is ugly. Good luck trying to find a more attractive case -- better to hide this thing in a drawer til night time.

That said, it makes sleeping on my side way, way more comfortable by eliminating the numb-arm factor.

Wagnbat wrote:I don't think it's rocket science to figure out Woot's business model. Clearing out OTHER people's inventories. There was a truckload of video cards shipped from Nvidia to Woot a few years back, and (I believe) accusations of foul play on both parties behalf as the entire shipment was "lost". Point is, Nvidia shipped excess stock to Woot to offload. This was before they were bought by Amazon. And it then makes sense that Amazon, a large warehouse company who has plenty of excess inventory, purchased a smaller company that excelled at moving poorly marketed or otherwise in selling excess inventory.

Last but not least, prices drop. Market value is what the market is willing to pay. If you paid $15, don't cry because now its $10. At the time those who didn't think it was fair waited. THAT is "market value". That said, at $5 a pillow, how much profit are they turning?

If you don't like it, shove off and go shop somewhere else... But we all know you won't because Woot still has awesome deals and you'll be back. Hopefully with less whine and moar cheez.

Well said, if you paid higher for it a few months back that's your problem. It's like buying real estate, buy now or wait for it to drop. Roll the dice.

Now about the pillows. I'm used to sleeping on a memory foam pillow so as far as them being "cradling" for you to lay on I'd say they are just as good as any other pillow "A little to firm if you ask me". They are only comfortable when you are on your side if your ear is in that lil hollowed out spot. I find myself waking up a lot wearing this pillow like one of those neck support pillows you see people wearing at the airport. lol

I'd give these pillows a 4/10, but I'm a pillow snob. others might like them more, but I could of done without. Also my guess is they'll be flat as a pancake after a couple months of use tops.

@conan Yes the ear hole is on both sides

I also bought these last time they were sold on Woot. My wife and I both gave them a quick toss in the trash after the first night. Uncomfortable and totally useless.

I suspect they will do it when gas stations drop the price per gallon and pay you back the difference from what you bought the week before.

I got two of these last time they were on woot, and loved them. I tried to find them locally for a good price and couldn't even locate them. I am a side sleeper who notoriously tucks an arm under my head while sleeping (leaving my neck and rotator-cuff stiff in the morning.)

This pillow encourages me to sleep with better posture, discourages me from tucking an arm and the best part was it didn't take me long to get used to it.

My only complaint about the pillow is switching sides (turning) while sleeping, the pillow works on either side, but it takes some getting used to in order to make the turn while sleeping.

Also, the button on the ear hole (which forms the fabric "pocket" for your ear) is a joke and doesn't stay buttoned. Although, the hole in the pillow still creates a comfortable area for your ear to rest.

I give this pillow 4 out of 5 stars.

I used to move alot in sleep until I found the BUCKETWHEAT HULL FILLED PILLOW Now I stay put but the shape of the side sleeper may help the buckwheat so I may try it replacing the stufffing with the buckwheat hulls. The buckwheat stay cool by moving as they heat up.

Like some said cheap feeling cover, but otherwise I've been pretty happy.

I have used it with over the nose CPAP mask and had no issues. Seems like it is better for the CPAP than my memory foam pillow.

Bought these a while back, tried them out a few times, but could never get a comfortable position for a full night. Too pushy firm for me and my eggshell delicate head. Would be better if the shape was filled with a softer traditional fill or foam. Whatever they use in this bunches up in spots.

How about selling the step-brother of this, the sobakawa cloud for this price?

I've had quite different experience with these.

1. Maybe I'm weird, or maybe just creative, but I get into quite a few (dozens) of different sleeping positions with these pillows. You don't have to sleep in "the" position for which they were designed. Helps more if you use more than one.

2. I agree about the cover and wish it were any color BUT white. Gets dingy-looking quick, esp. since it starts out SO white. I don't remove the cover, though. I just toss the entire pillow into the wash with those little stain remover packets and they come out nice. Have held up well, too. My oldest one now belongs to my widdlest dog.

As to the tossing and turning issue others talk about, before I began sleeping with these, I was HORRIBLE at tossing around all night long. Past boyfriends would get irritated, in fact. These have cut down the tossing/turning tremendously. I sometimes now am surprised to actually wake up in the same position as i was when I drifted off....something that NEVER happened before in my, um....let's just say many....years of life.

But even when I do still roll around in the night, the way I have them positioned, it's no biggie at all. I just roll from one right onto another. No need to move or flip them.

May the Crap be with you all!!!

If these ever come up again, don't even wonder whether you'll like them unless your neck is at least a foot long; anything less and you'll end up strangling yourself on all the bulk you have to cram under your head in order for your ear to reach the ear pocket. I even tried cutting the short side to shorten it, but it just doesn't work. (And, by the way, the pillow is stuffed with nasty little pieces of ???, not memory foam!) Total waste of money.

Best purchase from Woot I've made yet. It didn't take me long to get use to sleeping on this very firm pillow. I actually sleep through the entire night now that my neck & shoulder is properly supported. If you're a side sleeper and like firm pillows, this is for you.
It finally relieved the pain from the 2 herniated cervical disc's in my neck which caused me daily pain for 6 months. I dont wake up with numb hands either. My neck pain is 95% gone since I started using this pillow. It might not be for everyone, but it sure is for me. It's been a miracle worker in my case.

I can honestly say, I love this pillow! I like the back support it gives me and when I lay it on top of my other pillow the height is perfect for my neck. You don't have to use the pillow to its exact instructions, I fiddled around with mine until I found the best sleep for me.

If these are offered again (PLEASE WOOT GODS) I WILL be buying them.
