Poll: How do you usually get to work?
  • 62.8% - I use my car! Vroom vroom! Honnnnk! 1276
  • 2.7% - I carpool! It’s nice to have friends on the way to work. 54
  • 2.4% - I ride the bus! Not as cool, but it saves me gas money. 48
  • 3.9% - By light rail or subway. It’s part of the urban experience, I feel. 80
  • 2.3% - By helicopter! I’m very important. 47
  • 8.7% - I work from home. 176
  • 17.3% - I don’t work. That why I have time to take polls. Thanks for including me! 352

Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

Honestly i went with the helicopter option. This is particularly because you didn't have an option for ppl that walk/skateboard to work. Such as I.

This poll is missing the greener options like walking or biking to work...

I almost took the "helicopter" option, because when I'm not working from home I have to take an airplane to customer sites. But I'm not very important, so I didn't.

I walked for 15 years. It was nice living just a 15 minute walk from work.

I work about 100 miles from home, I carpool half of the drive, so I drive all of the way one day and the other guys drives the second half the next. BUT I work on an Air Force base and have a farm next to me that flys little planes and small helicopters out of it, so I've given some heavy consideration to buying a hobby plane or helicopter and using that as my ride to work. I'm not important, but I sure would feel like it flying to work every day.

Let's see the quality impulse buys!

I ride my scooter. It gets a little cold during the winter, but I get the last laugh at the gas pumps. Under $4 in gas per week.

I drive my car but there isn't any 'Vroom! Vroom!' nonsense. It is electric so it is more a '... whoosh'

I bike. Even more green than a bus, but with the added bonus of exercise.

No love for us walkers?

I drive 40 min one way, but it's not Vroom Vroom, it's more like putter putter. 1996 Camry with 300k+ miles on it. As far as a gas car goes, it's a pretty green option. Give me a huge raise, though, and I'll buy a Hummer.

Walking and biking aren't necessarily greener when you hold up traffic by crawling across the street or blocking lanes with your bike. It just makes the cars burn more fuel and generate more pollution.

Walking seems like a pretty reasonable option.

Well I travel a variety of ways. Three days a week I take a bus to my co-worker's apartment and carpool; two days a week I take a subway, then a train, then a bus, and then I walk about half a mile.

I stopped driving 7 months ago. I love it!!!

I live 30 miles from work. Every morning i start at 6AM walking and I get there about 6PM. They are closed. Then i have to walk home. This green living is exhausting.
