What have we got to do a to get a set of 100% cotton PERCALE sheets around here? It's always sateen, sateen, sateen. Sateen sucks. I HATE sateen! WE WANT PERCALE!!!

PERCALE

Pros:

- A crisp, cool hand-feel.

- It’s the same weave as luxury hotel linens or your Grandma’s comfy sheets!

- Great durability while maintaining softness.

- Breathability; it provides a ‘cool’ sleep on warm nights and ‘warm’ sleep on cool nights.

- Will stand up to years of use.

- Easy to care for.

Cons:

- More prone to wrinkles.

- Doesn’t have a sheen, or shiny appearance.

SATEEN

Pros:

- Slick, smooth hand feel.

- An initial, nice sheen to the fabric. (This sheen loses its luster with washing/use.)

- Can have a shiny appearance.

- Slightly more wrinkle-resistant.

Cons:

- Less durable.

- More susceptible to pilling.

- Does not breathe well.

- Shiny appearance & sheen fades with use.

900+ woots! - Talk to the Square or don't

THANK you! I can't say that I HATE sateen, but I live in Florida (AKA The 6th Circle of Hell). It's useless to buy sateen sheets no matter how inexpensive--they end up 'shiny' with sweat. :-p

Thanks for the excellent comparison!
I think that, if you're actually uncomfortable because of wrinkles in your sheets, you either (1) bought sheets too big for your bed or (2) need to find a royal spouse with many, many mattresses & feather beds.

Most people prefer sateen. Including me.

I have a couple of sets of percale, but most of my sheets are sateen. Quality sateen sheets are very durable. I've never had "pilling" on my sheets and they're still soft and smooth after many, many dozens of washings. Percale just doesn't feel as nice, to me. I rarely use them.

I concur with the angry mob. I always check and lately it's always sateen. Sateen sucks.

If percale is just so darn unpopular nowadays, bring us many quality choices at low prices and we will buy them all.

I'm on the Percale bandwagon. Sateen sucks.

Save your money!!! These are very poor quality. They make you sweat to sleep on them and feel gritty against your skin.
WORST. BUY. EVER.
