Unrealistic Expectations
So let's just see what we're dealing with here, shall we?
Things the Breville Compact "Smart" Oven is good at:
1. Toasting four slices of bread or one 12" pizza.
2. Having a non-stick interior.
3. Back-lighting its easy-to-read LCD.
4. Shutting off automatically.
Things the Breville Compact "Smart" Oven is bad at:
1. Helping with my kid's algebra homework because God knows I don't understand that crap.
2. Not burning me when I adjust the rack position with my bare hands DURING the cooking process.
3. Fitting and successfully cooking a frozen 24-pound turkey in five minutes.
4. Walking the dog.
So as you can see, the Breville is great at doing stuff a toaster oven is designed to do, but pretty dumb when it comes to all that other stuff. Therefore, it is my official recommendation that we change its name from Breville "Smart" Oven to Breville "Below Average in the Solving Quadratic Equations Department" Oven. You know, just so people aren't disappointed.
