You can always use more dishes. Especially classy dishes like these. Who knows when your old ones might not be up to the task?

"Mom, I got you something today. Don't move, okay?"

Chastity ran to the other room to get the Corelle Dinnerware she had purchased, as a gift.

"Here you go! Break and chip resistant!"

"Well, thank you, Chastity! They're very nice, and it's wonderful that you'd give me such a thoughtful gift, but ... why now?"

Chastity laughed. "Because you'll need them, Mom! To replace the old ones!"

"Chastity, my old dishes might not be microwave and oven safe like this Corelle Dinnerware, and they might not be as dishwasher safe as this Corelle Dinnerware, and they might not have those lovely stoneware mugs or those pretty-long lasting patterns, but why would you think I'd need to replace them?"

Chastity giggled. "I'll show you! Here, hold all the old dishes in your arms, stacked up."

Chastity's mom did as she was told.

"Perfect! Ready? Okay! Mom, guess what?"

"Chastity, these dishes are heavy. What am I supposed to guess?"

"You never will, so I'll just tell you. I'm dropping out of college and going on tour with my new boyfriend, a forty year old bar-band guitar player!"

And then, after a pause, Chastity laughed again.

"See? THAT'S why I bought you the Corelle Dinnerware set! Don't worry, I'll clean up all the broken pieces of the old dishes myself. And wait until you hear Greasy Joe's latest CD, you'll be amazed at some of his covers!"
