You put plastic on the sofa so it's hard to nap there. But your bed? Your bed is perfectly fine.

There's a thin line between "protection" and "modern art." When you cover your rugs with plastic to protect the rugs, you've crossed the line. But when you cover your rugs with pretty rugs that people can use, you've made a difference! And that's what happens with bedding!

See, sheets aren't the bed. Sheets protect the bed. Blankets protect the sheets. They all protect the sleeper from the cold floor and the cold sky. But also, the bedding makes the bed pretty. Mattress people know this, that's why a bare mattress looks so, well, bare. Think they couldn't make a mattress in red and gold if they really wanted to? OF COURSE THEY COULD! They just don't because they leave that up to the sleeper! Because everyone knows that they're gonna buy bedding before the mattress even arrives in their home.

The bedding that you buy today will say something about you. It'll say more than just a ream of clear plastic that you spin into a cocoon about you each night. THAT would be freaky. But do it with sheets? Social acceptable, and ever so lovely.
