The shortened wings allow you to grip the corkscrew with ease while it's clamped stably on a wine bottle. It clamps on the top of a wine bottle, which makes it easy to insert spiral into the cork. The non-stick spiral penetrates cleanly, so the cork will not crumble as often happens with ordinary wing corkscrews. By eliminating rotation, the gears remain in constant contact with arms for seamless cork removal.
