Animals in the Outhouse

One morning all of the animals in the forest awake to discover an intruder in their midst! It’s a bright blue outhouse, installed by the park ranger who is tired of the forest smelling nasty and his dog walking in stinky animal poop! From now on, the animals must do their business in the outhouse. Dr. Grunter the boar, Billy the bear, Harriet the hare, Prickly the hedgehog, Fancy the fox, Antony the stag, and Olive the owl all do their very best to use this strange and unnatural device. But was the outhouse really such a good idea? Mishap ensues as each animal tries to impress the others by pooping in the plastic, portable potty.

Animals in the Outhouse shows children it is never worth doing something you are uncomfortable with just for the sake of fitting in. Children will love this silly story that is also a lesson about conformity.

Bob & Rob & Corn on the Cob

Bob and Rob are two squirrels who just love eating corn on the cob. Their friends—a duck, a dog, a chicken, and a piglet—also love corn on the cob, but not Ella Mae Dobbs, a rabbit with a more refined palate. She’s a little bit of a snob when it comes to trying foods she doesn’t like. She prefers curly-cut carrots, hot cheese fondue, and especially tofu! Bob and Rob devise a plan to get Ella Mae to try corn on the cob—and in return they will try some of her favorite foods too. And while they may not find their next favorite food, Bob, Rob, and even Ella Mae Dobbs find that it’s important to try new foods. You may be pleasantly surprised at what you find.

From debut author and illustrator Todd McQueen, Bob & Rob & Corn on the Cob is a whimsical, educational, and hilarious romp into the world of two corn on the cob–loving squirrels. Perfect for the picky eater in your life who isn’t getting the message through Green Eggs and Ham, this is sure to have them giggling while trying foods they originally turned their noses up at.

The Funny Bunny Fly

Something doesn’t smell right at Mr. Abel Throppe’s bakery. Eighteen customers are sick, and they’re blaming it on his pie! What could have caused this awful epidemic? It seems a funny bunny fly has taken up residence in the bakery. You see, Funny Bunny Fly doesn’t like to be clean. Prior to entering the bakery, he rolled in some dog doo-doo and is spreading germs all over town! Mr. Throppe better keep his bakery clean, or he’s going to lose his customers and gain a permanent new tenant.

The Funny Bunny Fly is a cautionary tale about hygiene that’s playful and fun. Bethany Straker’s silly rhymes are complemented by her colorful and wacky illustrations. The Funny Bunny Fly is sure to keep the laughter bubbling—and, hopefully, the soap too!

Goose the Bear

Bear got more than he bargained for when he accidentally ran into Fox. Little did he know, Bear had picked up Fox’s stolen goose egg. Soon, the egg hatches and Bear finds himself holding a confused little gosling that’s calling him “Mama.” Try as he might to convince the little goose he’s not its mother, the goose sticks around. Bear tries to show the goose that he’s not its mother by climbing, running, and swimming away, but Goose is there every step of the way, climbing, running, and swimming just as well as Bear. But, Fox is lurking the whole time, waiting to take back his “prize.” Just as Bear begins to accept Goose as his own, Fox makes his move. Will Fox get Goose, or will “Goose the Bear” make “Mama” proud?

In this quirky mix-up at its finest, Katja Gehrmann tells the heartwarming and species-confused story of Goose the Bear with the help of colorful, offbeat illustrations and a narrative to match. If you want to be a bear, be a bear—even if you’re a goose.

Gorillas in Our Midst

Gorillas can be hard to spot, because they are masters of disguise and really good at hiding. Gorillas often have jobs where they get to wear masks—that’s why so many gorillas are surgeons, astronauts, scuba divers, and ninjas. There are adult gorillas and kid gorillas. There are even gorillas that go to school with you. You may think you’ve seen a gorilla swinging by before, but it’s much more likely that he was an orangutan—orangutans are terrible at hiding. You will know when there are lots of gorillas living in your midst because the grocery stores will be entirely out of bananas. In fact, you should always carry a banana with you, because you never know when there might be a gorilla around.

Gorillas in Our Midst is all silliness and fun, and is destined to become a new favorite. Comic artist Richard Fairgray’s illustrations are filled with wonderful details for kids to discover with each read. Kids will love spotting the gorillas on each page and are sure to laugh out loud at the gorillas’ many disguises. And, of course, a story like this can’t end without a surprising twist!
