The Whirlpool Whispure APT40010R True HEPA Tower Air Purifier gives fresh meaning to the old adage, "good things come in small packages." To start, the purifier's AHAM Certified¹ clean air delivery rate (CADR) assures the Whispure APT40010R delivers certifiably clean air in rooms up to 190 square feet, while its Energy Star efficiency translates into more energy savings for you. Two (2) True HEPA filters do an excellent job filtering 99.97% of dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, fabric fibers, and other airborne particles to 0.3 microns. An activated charcoal pre-filter traps household odors and VOCs, and also captures larger particles before they reach the HEPA filters.

The APT40010R comes with a stylish and easy-to-operate control panel. Choose from 3 fan speeds (each illuminated by a green LED), or press AUTO, and the purifier automatically adjusts fan speed based on the quality of air detected by the unit's VOC sensor. You will notice the sensor's LED turn from green to amber when VOC gases are detected. Or press SLEEP MODE to set the fan speed to "Low" for 8 hours, and the unit will remember to restore your previous settings when it "wakes up." You can also press TIMER to set the purifier to run continuously for 8-18 hours before it automatically shuts off.

LEDs on the control panel turn red to alert you when it's time to replace the filters – one for the HEPA filters, the other for the pre-filter. Once replaced, just press the filter reset button(s) on the control panel to reset the HEPA or pre-filter timer. Under normal conditions, the pre-filter will need replacement every 3 months, and the HEPA filters once a year. Replacement filter costs run in the ballpark of $60 a year, or about 16 cents per day, which is quite low compared to similar True HEPA air purifiers.

The Whispure APT40010R runs very quietly on low and medium settings. Like all HEPA air purifiers, the unit is a bit louder on high, but Whirlpool's Whispure operation means it's only about half as loud as comparable brands. The APT40010R stands at 29" high (about table height) with a very small footprint, so can be non-intrusively placed without upsetting your décor or your lifestyle.
