The term "area rug" can be deceiving. Say, for example, you have a thousand square foot room and you're twenty feet tall -- then, in that case, an area rug would be more like a door mat. But then again, TECHNICALLY, the rug would still be covering an area, just a small area, so nevermind, it'd still be an area rug.
