When it comes to saturation & blending, there’s nothing that compares to Prismacolor soft core pencils. On my color swatch I literally put down the color and rubbed with my finger. You can see on the coloring page how cool the blending can get (again just using my fingers). If you can get these pencils at around $1 each, GET THEM. That’s a great price.

I’ve heard really good things about Prismacolor but I was a bit disappointed at the quality of the pencils themselves— the reason for the breakage is because the lead isn’t aligned in the middle of the barrel and the quality doesn’t hold up so it chips off. The color payoff is okay and not as impressive as I’ve seen other people speak of. I’m not as fond of the color variety of the 36 pack either so I suggest a smaller variety to test the pencils or 48 and above for coloring instead. Overall I think I’d spend the money for another brand of a higher quality since these color pencils aren’t cheap either and get more value for money.
