Heats up too fast/high at medium temperature

The good news is it heats up very fast. The bad news is that it was smoking before I could get the first ingredient (wine) in the pot, which immediately came to a boil. I don’t think non stick cookware should be used at such a high temperature. I followed the instructions in the guide for preparing the pot. (This includes washing the fondue pot and wiping a thin layer of oil on the non stick surface). I followed one of the recipes from the guide. My past experience with non stick cookware is that you shouldn’t use high heat and that the product won’t last long if you do.
