Magnalite® Classic® 15" Oval Roaster

I recently received this packaged nicely as it should be,upon unpacking I noticed that the lid did not fit correctly. Though amazon I contacted the seller which called me within a minute or two,this surprised me . Talking with person on the phone and telling him the condition of the lid on the roaster I believe in my opinion the roaster itself was warped in the middle,but anyway he told me he would be happy to help and send me a new roaster asap which he did. The New Roaster arrived very quick with No manufacturing issues. I have to admit this is bigger than I had really wanted and could have a slightly smaller pot. So in using it the first time it cooked great the one concern I have is the lid inside turned a darker color for some reason,just hoping it is nota defection of the material. All in all it’s pretty darn nice

UPDATE: Rating increased from 1 to 5 stars. I have received my replacement pot and it has none of the warped lid issues. The lid fits perfectly and the pot is HUGE. For the price, this is a great deal! {Original review}: I saw a couple reviews from others that noted the lid did not fit their Magnalite pot correctly, but discounted it based on the numerous other good reviews. The box I received looked as if it had been opened before, but was taped up. Unfortunately, the pot that was included in this box had a badly formed or warped lid too. In one place the bottom of the pot extended beyond the diameter of the lid, and although I cou get it to sit where both ends seemed seated (mostly), there were long gaps along the sides that are not typical of any Magnalite products I've ever used before. I've requested a replacement through Amazon and will update this review after I receive a replacement.

Love this! My mother had one from 1970 that she received as a wedding present. We still use it to this day and it makes a great pot roast as well as anything else you want to roast! I loved hers so much that I had to have one for myself! From the very first corned beef, it works every bit as well as hers. The size is perfect for any large roast with vegetables, potatoes and all the goodies with even room left for more! I originally bought the 18 inch but that one was a bit big for normal use, although would have been great for a big turkey!

My mother always used Guardian Service cookware, bought back in the early 1950's, which was the ultimate in cookware then, also being cast aluminum. I inherited her cookware (which they no longer make) but not until I had already purchased a Magnalite set, which is the closest match to the Guardian Service. It is true waterless cooking. Easy clean up. I never had to "season" mine first (that's usually only done with cast iron cookware) and I've had most of my Magnalite pieces for 30 years. A 15 lb turkey fits in the 15" roaster and I get raves every Thanksgiving . . . the roaster practically makes it's own dark, rich gravy and the turkey meat is so moist! To me, as a devoted family "chef", nothing on the market can beat Magnalite.

What a surprise! I didn't use this roaster right away because of its size. When I did remove the rack that is included on the inside, it was a shock to see that the entire bottom portion of the aluminum was unfinished. It is rough and not smooth like the other finished pieces. I couldn't believe, at this price, a normally dependable product like Magnalite could ship out such a defective product!!

I Love this Cookware! I almost did not purchase it because of all the negative reviews. No, it is not the Original Wagner Ware that I have used for years but, Good luck finding that. The only way I can tell the difference is by turning it over and it reads Magnalite Classic made in China. That has not affected the cookware at all and it comes with a 50-year limited warranty. So, with Proper use & care it will out last you and you can pass it on to someone else when you are gone. Read the Use & Care Guide very close. Hand wash only! Never use scouring pads or abrasive cleaner of any kind.Never Ever wash in a dishwasher! you will damage the finish and you will be lucky to get back half the shine with lots of cleaning and polishing. As with the Original Wagner Ware some foods will darken the inside of this cookware as well, I find it is easy to clean by using "BAR KEEPERS FRIEND CLEANSER & POLISH" available at your local Dollar General Store. I am not, sorry I made this purchase. I would do it again. That is how much I love them.

I bought this roaster a week before Thanksgiving 2012 and found it to be of great quality. I was a bit concerned reading the reviews of the people that purchased this roaster. I borrowed a friends exact same roaster 3 years ago and could not believe it had dropped in quality like the reviews stated. After receiving mine I found it to be nicely constructed and did not have any issues. The construction of the roaster was great, the lid closed correctly, and the roaster worked perfectly over the holidays!

I ordered this large beautiful Magnalite roaster because I don't have a large roaster. I have a small magnalite roaster that I love - it was a wedding gift 32 years ago, and I still love it. But it is only big enough for small roasts. I wanted a huge turkey roaster. This 18" roaster arrived in short order and I was so pleased to get it. I placed it in my cupboard. Today I took it out, washed it, & oiled it as was suggested. I put 30# of beef in it - only to discover the lid is warped and will not fit on the roaster. How disappointed I am. I called Magnalite customer service, but today is Saturday and they are not open on weekends. I will have to use the roaster as is because the meat needs to be cooked today. I am hoping when I call them on Monday they will replace this roaster. If not - I will post a new review letting you know. . . . UPDATE: I called the Magnalite company and told them the lid was warped. They are going to ship me a whole new roaster - not just a lid! If that one is warped as well, you will hear back from me. If not - you will know that I absolutely love it!

Love the capacity of this Magnalite, especially for cooking 4 lbs of red beans at a time! However, the only downside is that if you are cooking Jambalaya or any other dish which requires the lid on for cooking, I find that this lid does not seal as well as the others in my Magnalite collection. Steam seeps out, and I'm wondering if perhaps I have a defective roaster as I've NEVER had this issue before with Magnalite cookware. Other than the top sealing issue, I adore this large roaster and use it often for cooking those large meals for freezing!

Magnalite makes a good pot, love the character they get after use. No complaints with heat transfer or anything else that would keep me from recommending it for those of you looking for a medium-large roaster/pot. The only reason I have to give it 4 stars is because the first one I got in had an extremely ill-fitting lid. Luckily amazon rectified that by sending me out a new lid but for such an expensive pot you'd expect to have a lid that fits out the box!
