Taking my 10lb mini dachshund for a car ride is much more enjoyable with the Deluxe Pet Booster Seat.I read the reviews and I had to give it a chance. Before I bought the booster seat my dog use to whine and jump from my lap to the passenger's seat while I was driving. It was stressful and I was concerned for his safety as well as mine. Now that Sonny is strapped in&secure, driving with him has been a much more pleasant experience. The first time I used the booster seat Sonny tried jumping out of the seat, which was expected. But I must say his constant whining had cut down by at least half. Now that he has ridden in his booster seat more than once he has embraced it and has stopped attempting to jump out.He loves to sit in it and look around.I love the design of the product&I love the soft lining.I went to a few local pet stores and their selection was weak.I didn't want to get Sonny a booster seat that looked like luggage.I am very pleased to have found a comfortable&stylish seat for my dog on Amazon. It was easy to assemble&is super easy to use.If you plan on using it in the backseat of your car, make sure you have head rests.My'06 Mazda6 does not have backseat head rests.Thankfully I have a baby carseat hook built in to my car, therfore I hook the straps through that.I would not suggest this product for someone who has a dog larger than mine.

not what I order

I specifically wanted Solvit Car Seat item # 62291. The product was advertised as this item # on Amazon.com. The product received was a different item #. When I told the seller, Little House of Terrors, that this was incorrect, she told me that the item I requested has been discontinued and replaced with the new item. If this is the case, it should not be advertised as item #62291 because it is not that item. This is false advertising. This seller made it difficult for me to return the item, and threatened me when I told her that I was stopping payment of my credit card payment. As a result of this experience I doubt that I will purchase from Amazon.com again. I certainly would not recommend Little House of Terrors nor Amazon.com It was an unpleasant experience. Amazingly when I called the manufacturer direct, I was able to get the correct item.

This is wonderful for a little dog. My Shih Tzu loves it. She can see out the window or lie down and go to sleep comfortably. I can tell she feels secure in it.
Nearly perfect in every way

I purchased this seat for my Boston Terrier puppy Maya 15 months ago when she was just 14 weeks old. After hearing and reading horror stories of pets being injured or thrown from a vehicle in an accident, I didn't want to take any chances. She took to it quickly, and it's easy to see why. Design: A+ It's quick and easy to install, which is important when I want to put a human in the passenger seat! Simply slip the metal arms into the slots and fasten the straps. The height can be adjusted by the top belt that goes around the head rest, and the second belt that goes around the back of the seat keeps the booster from tottering from side to side. The backboard, which extends below the seat a good 6 inches, provides added support and stability. The straps adjust wide enough to install it in the backseat if necessary. The color of the lining hides dirt (and matches my car's interior), although it's easy to remove and wash. My neighbors think it's the cutest thing they've ever seen, and I love watching people do double-takes at traffic lights! Comfort: A+ (I'm assuming, since I don't actually ride in it!) The quilted lining is soft, and because there's no hard bottom, it's almost like a hammock that fits to your pet's shape. My pup has traveled over 4,000 miles in hers, including a two-day car trip from FL to PA. When I put her in, she usually looks out the window for a few minutes (something the height of the seat allows her to do comfortably), then curls into a ball and starts snoring. In fact, she's so secure in this seat that she trembles if she's ever put into the car without it. Construction: A- The construction of the seat is solid, using leverage to brace it against the back of the seat with two arms hidden in the lining on either side. The back board is large and solid enough to keep the seat stable, and the seat itself supports my now-23-pound pup easily. The reason for the A- is the D rings are flat rather than rounded, which makes them harder to adjust and more likely to eventually wear through the webbed straps. I'd also suggest sewing a channel for them to keep them from sliding around and causing the straps to bunch up. Obviously, these are small concerns, seeing as the seat has served us well on almost a daily basis for over a year. Maya is now a year and a half and a little large for the seat, but when I buy her a larger seat, I'll be sticking with this brand.

Good quality seat & cover, but straps & hooks are cheap, NOT sturdy. Questioning safety and longevity of item!

The seat itself, including the nice thick washable cover is very well done, of good quality. I am glad I paid attention to reviewers that recommend going for a larger size than the manufacturer suggests. I would suggest paying more attention to the actual bucket dimensions and compare these to your pet to make sure s/he will fit comfortably (specially when curled up to take a little nap). However, I noticed right away that the parts to hold the Solvit seat to my car seat were very flimsy and cheap (a disconnect when compared to the rest of the product). The straps are made of cheap, weak nylon straps. And the hardware is also very light weight and flimsy, the hooks and the slider pieces that tighten the straps around your car seat are very, very light duty. But we were enjoying the seat with no problems. And then, yesterday, after having used it, maybe 10 times, one of the hooks broke!! The hook came apart, the spring came out, the screw/peg was separate, etc. My dog was not even inside the seat, I was just beginning to tighten the strap to the car seat. If you are thinking of getting this seat for a pet that is heavier than 10 lbs or so, you may want to call the company and make sure that it is not just a bigger basket, but that the straps and hardware are stronger also for a heavier animal. I get the sense that they just change the size of the basket, but the hardware and straps are the same. The strap and hook that you attach to your pet's collar so he won't move or try to jump out are weak. I think they are meant to be as a reminder that the pet shouldn't get out of the seat. But don't expect that in an accident they would hold up. Your dog would go flying out of the windshield. I am going to try to call the company and get some replacement hardware.

My french bulldogs dogs are around 24 lbs. The plastic tube that the two supporting tubes fit into broke right out the top. It should have been metal.

Vera (my 5.5 pound Japanese Chin) loves this! Her car rides used to be spent confined to a traditional pet carrier, and now her enthusiasm to check out the world as it passes by is unmeasured. Goes well with the car's tan interior, and is really very simple to install/uninstall. There is also plenty of room for her to comfortably turn around or even lie down One word of caution: you probably should NOT put this in the back seat of your vehicle UNLESS you have a passenger who could help out in case of a poorly-timed, enthusiastic leap from the basket! There is a harness clip to keep the dog safe in case of sudden turns or stops, but if your dog jumps out, he/she will dangle (or worse) whick would be very dangerous while you are driving! Vera tried to jump out within the first five minutes, but luckily it was in the driveway. It only took once for her to learn her lesson, but I was too worried for the rest of our drive to really be able to focus on the road instead of her in the backseat: dangerous! Keep the pet seat installed up front with you, if you are in the car alone.

I wasn't too sure about how this would work but I am very happy with it. My Chihuahuas want to sit on my lap while I drive and they get up alot to look out the window. After watching them hit the floor every time I hit the brakes I decided it was safer to put them in a seat. My 1 Chi is only about 3lbs. The other is 9lbs. They both fit in this seat without too much room to move but enough to sit or even curl up. It installed pretty quick and easy into my front passenger seat. Its high enough for them to look out. The basket liner comes out for cleaning. Its sturdy. I think its awesome and the price is perfect. Not cheap or cheaply made but not over priced either like some other seats. This does just what it needs to do for the right price and it looks nice. Exterior has suede like material and the basket is lined in nice soft thick material. This basket fit in my Mazda3 and holds 2 small chihuahuas just fine.
This pet booster seat is just okay

I am glad I bought this pet booster seat, but it is not ideal for my needs. It is a little small for my dog,(a miniature dachsund big for his breed) so he can never get quite comfortable. Even though it lifts him up so he can see out the window, he still stands with his feet on the edge of the basket trying to get his nose out the window. This de-stabilizes the basket, and often causes the support pole to come out of its socket, which then pokes the dog. ALSO, it is uncomfortable to install and take out. I thought I would just be able to leave the booster seat in place in the front passenger seat, but that didn't prove practical. Installing the booster involves reaching all the way around the front seat to hook up the strap, which is a pain. But when everything is hooked up properly, the booster seat is at a nice height and relatively stable. Unfortunately, the booster seat doesn't not have any safety features for the dog. There is a strap that you can hook to the dog's collar, but that would probably choke the dog in an accident, not keep him from being flung forward. Another problem, the booster seat installs so high on the car seat that my dog cannot hop into the seat, I have to pick him up and put him in the basket. Bottom line, it is better than nothing, but could be better designed for easier installation and greater stability.

I bought the deluxe seat even though my tiny 4 lb Chihuahua could have fit in the smaller one. I put her cushioned dog bed inside and it fits perfectly and she loves her bed so is comfortable sitting/sleeping in the seat. She had no trouble at all adjusting to sitting in there from sitting in my lap before I got the seat and loves to be able to look out the window. It is easy to install except the side braces are a bit of pain sometimes to get into their slots. I would have rated it 5 stars except for one complaint and it's a serious one. The metal fasteners on the ends of the straps are extremely flimsy. One of them broke as I was driving and the car seat fell down, but luckily my dog did not get thrown onto the floor or hung up in her harness attached to the seat. Since she only weights 4 pounds and this seat is rated to carry significantly more weight, I think they should provide more heavy duty fasteners on the straps. I am now using a carrying strap from an old laptop briefcase and have no worries about another accident. So, be careful of the flimsy straps/fasteners, especially for the one that goes around the headrest. It would add minimal to their cost to make sure it is secure. I haven't contacted them about the problem, though I will. But I'm really not interested in receiving another strap of the same poor quality.
