DBM-8FR Cuisinart Coffee Mill
By Andrew C. on Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2008
This is my second Cuisinart grinder, the first was identical to this one except it had a smooth rather than brushed surface. It was great but just quit after about 2-3 years. I shopped carefully for a replacement without finding anything with this capabilty that wasn't double or triple the price. This is a review of both old and new grinders. The "new" grinder was perfect except it had a tiny tweak to the stainless cover on the bottom edge on one side. Not noticeable without close examination. We grind coffee once or twice daily. Nice size hopper, holds quite a few pots worth. Timer allows you to skip the measuring, just set the timer number to the number cups, press the button, wait a few seconds, then dump the freshly ground coffee into your filter. We grind it finely and it does a good job. It's fairly noisy but not terrible. Only problems I had with the old one was the discharge area would get clogged once in a while and have to be cleaned with a sharp instrument. If you like dark roasted oily coffee beans this will happen to you too I'm sure. So overall it looks good and works well. I just hope it lasts longer than the last one. The old one just quit without warning so I'm not sure if it was the motor, some problem with the switch or a short of some kind. For the money this is a great burr grinder. Also Amazon free shipping was s-l-o-w took over a week to get here and probably 3-4 days for them to even mail it. I've used Amazon free shipping before and I didn't remember it being so slow. Compared to Newegg this is terrible. I got an order the next day with Newegg free shipping, and thats typical for them.

This grinder was a disappointment. It grinds well
By JimM on Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2016
This grinder was a disappointment. It grinds well, maybe slightly better (more consistent granule size) than my old Krups egg-shaped grinder, but only slightly so. Then there are the disadvantages: - It "died" after only 75 days. The "thorough cleaning" of every nook & cranny suggested in other comments did not revive it. Yes, there is a manufacturer's 90 day warranty, but I'm not sure that I want another one, because. . . - It's messy! The lower receiving bin picks-up a strong static charge from the coffee every time you grind, and if you grind for every pot, the coffee particles want to fly and cling everywhere (outside of the bin and the countertop). The only viable solution I found was to grind in the evening and let the charge dissipate overnight. And if you want to grind for a 2nd pot. . . more static A metal (or conductive coated) receiving bin that is grounded to the power cord's ground pin is the obvious solution, but that wasn't offered. Just my 2¢
