DBM-8FR Cuisinart Coffee Mill
By Andrew C. on Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2008
This is my second Cuisinart grinder, the first was identical to this one except it had a smooth rather than brushed surface. It was great but just quit after about 2-3 years. I shopped carefully for a replacement without finding anything with this capabilty that wasn't double or triple the price. This is a review of both old and new grinders. The "new" grinder was perfect except it had a tiny tweak to the stainless cover on the bottom edge on one side. Not noticeable without close examination. We grind coffee once or twice daily. Nice size hopper, holds quite a few pots worth. Timer allows you to skip the measuring, just set the timer number to the number cups, press the button, wait a few seconds, then dump the freshly ground coffee into your filter. We grind it finely and it does a good job. It's fairly noisy but not terrible. Only problems I had with the old one was the discharge area would get clogged once in a while and have to be cleaned with a sharp instrument. If you like dark roasted oily coffee beans this will happen to you too I'm sure. So overall it looks good and works well. I just hope it lasts longer than the last one. The old one just quit without warning so I'm not sure if it was the motor, some problem with the switch or a short of some kind. For the money this is a great burr grinder. Also Amazon free shipping was s-l-o-w took over a week to get here and probably 3-4 days for them to even mail it. I've used Amazon free shipping before and I didn't remember it being so slow. Compared to Newegg this is terrible. I got an order the next day with Newegg free shipping, and thats typical for them.

Worst Amazon experience for me ever!
By Lil' Fish in a Big River on Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2008
Cuisinart and Amazon should be ashamed of themselves for selling this. I was in shock when I took it out of the box - it was in terrible condition! There was a ding on the side of it in the stainless, the other side and front had rust on it, it had coffee grinds in every crevice and it had grime and finger prints all over it. The only thing refurbished was the bean hopper (which appeared new). Like the other reviewer said, I wouldn't have given $3 for this at a yard sale - no joke. The shipping expense and hassle to return it is cost prohibitive, so I'm stuck. Luckily Bar Keepers Friend removed the rust spots of the stainless (Bar Keepers Friend is amazing). I haven't tried it out to see how well it grinds...scared actually. I just find it hard to believe Cuisinart couldn't have at least cleaned the thing off. Actually, with the ding on the side, it should never have been resold. This is by far the worst thing I've ever received mail order, and this is not the first refurbished item I've purchased. Even buying used items off eBay were never this bad! I've always had faith in Amazon, not so much now...I guess they'll sell anything.
