OXO Good Grips Cherry & Olive Pitter

This cherry pitter is even better than I had hoped it would be. It's comfortable in your hand (no cramping or too hard surface pain), can handle really large cherries, has a slide lock that keeps it secure and protected from getting mangled in your kitchen tool drawer, super easy to clean and the juice guard is genius! I just pitted 2 lbs. of cherries for a cobbler and was done in 10 minutes; SOOOO appreciative of the time savings and the unstained fingers!!! I would recommend that you watch as each pit is ejected; it's so efficient that you might be tempted not to bother but I did have three cherries whose pits stayed inside the cherry and that would be an unpleasant surprise to find in your pie or cobbler. Also, twice, I had a pit that was large enough to get stuck in the ejection hole and I needed to dislodge them with a wooden skewer, easily done and not a big deal - especially when you consider how many cherries are in 2 lbs. This gadget is well worth having! It seems well enough made that you'll probably never have to replace it. I'm probably going to buy a couple more and have them for shower/hostess gifts.
