Its Joseph Joseph, Of course I love it!!

First let me start be saying this is a glass surface protector/cutting board, for any of who whom have long time kitchen experience and have ever owned these type cutting boards, you all know what to expect. There have been quite a few negative reviews on here for this one as well as other Joseph cutting boards about the graphic sticker coming off the back. ALL glass cutting boards of this type are made this way. Its a universal product problem, rather then one with this particular item or brand. I do not use glass cutting boards for cutting but rather as trivets, I have a wooden cutting board and a very large marble pastry board that I prefer for food prep. I have owned many of these type and every single one has been designed this same way, with the graphic design being a sticker on the bottom that shows through the glass on front. They can be cleaned of course, but they are not intended for soaking or being repeatedly drenched and setting in water. You can clean them with a soapy rag, rinse and dry or you CAN place them in the dishwasher. The problem I believe some are having, while others place them in the dishwasher with no problems, is how they are being dried and how quickly that is taking place. If you put these in the dishwasher they should be taken out and dried immediately after washing or the power saving dry cycle should be used that lets the dishes air dry, as appose to heat dry. If you use heat dry, the heat and water will act as steam and release the adhesive on the sticker. The heat and steam from the dishwasher cycle doesn't effect it as badly because it is being rinsed and cooled back off quickly as appose to sitting. This being one of the reasons I don't care for glass cutting boards for food prep, you cant apply alot of sanitizing heat and the other being the rough surface they all seem to have. For trivets and to act as counter displays they are wonderful. I wanted to write this review and touch on the glass cutting board issue because I have quickly become of huge lover of Joseph products. I own several Joseph kitchenware items and simply love all of them. Not only are the bold vibrant colors perfect for my colorful kitchen, but all the products I have function beautifully and are made with quality materials and craftsmanship. Joseph Joseph kitchenware has quickly earned a leading spot in my kitchen among my enormous amount of kitchenware items. I have a family of 6, Hubby and myself and 4 kiddos, along with a large brood of extended family and friends. We have 2 homes, one in the country on 4 acres of land and a lake home, so our 2 dwellings always serves as the get together spots and are virtually everyone's home away from home, so to speak. That said, kitchenware that functions and holds up to repeated everyday use is vital in our homes. We have large kitchens in both homes chock full of kitchenware and appliances for all types of cooking. Quality is important to us and we have paid exuberant amounts for alot of the items we have. Joseph has replaced many of those items, I am finding myself reaching for my Joseph items and my others have been sitting unused. If ever a glass cutting board was created to function as well as wood, marble or stainless steel, then Joseph would definitely be the creator I believe. Unfortunately , that is not the case, glass cutting boards are what they are and have always been. This item just like any other, will only function and prove effective with the range of its capabilities. If you are looking for a quality cutting board for food prep that is durable enough to withstand repeated use and hardy sanitization, then most likely you want to purchase bamboo, marble, granite, stainless steel or there are some nice silicone options for those that are looking for something more budget friendly. Joseph offers a very nice silicone set. If you are aware of the limitation of these types of boards and are looking for something to use accordingly, then yes, I would wholeheartedly recommend this product or any other Joseph Joseph kitchenware item.

Watered down Watermelon
By S. Ackermann on Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2009
I have purchased a number of Joseph Joseph Worktop savers. They first came to my attention in the MOMA catalog. I loved the strong vibrant designs but not the designer price. I began searching the internet for alternate (translate cheaper) sources & other designs. I have purchased the Orange slice, Kiwi, Hot Lips, Marilyn & Elvis to name a few & have given many as gifts. They are tough, functional & very eyecatching. I have never had any problems with any of the other designs. The Watermelon however did not live up to its promise of being dishwasher safe. My mother had admired my Orange slice & Kiwi savers but because her kitchen is accessorized in red I chose the Watermelon as the best color for her. The first time she ran it through the dishwasher she noticed a blurring around the edges that she attributed to dampness. The second time the design was really & truly damaged. Apparently moisture seeping or forced between the design & the tempered glass left puddles & ripples & strange white watermarks across the face. Since I purchased it as a gift there was a significant lag between purchase time & the gifting occasion & then by the time the two trips through the dishwasher were accomplished months had elapsed. That's a little too long to return for a refund and since Joseph Joseph is in Britain I guess I am stuck with an expensive Watermelon Rind. If you really love the design go for it. But handwash only!
