Very good value
By conmac96 on Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2013
I read up on this model prior to buying in March and have now had it for 6 weeks or so. I am now on my 4th 1/6th barrel as more "friends" seem to be stopping by. I found this model a bit intimidating at first to put together as I assumed the bag with all the "spare parts" would need to be used in the assembly (the directions are not great). This was not the case. Once I got going the directions made more sense and I was pouring perfect pints in no time. Note: the tower washer that holds it in place was connected to the hole plug (provided to allow you to use a a mini fridge). Once I figured that out (not in instructions) I was all set. I have since bought a cleaning kit and have completely disassembled the tap and put it back together without any problem. I also bought the tap covers to keep the lines from getting any contamination and picked up a cool Lowenbrau tap handle. I read other reviews regarding the thermostat and the regulator. The thermostat works fine on mine. I have it set at about 75% of the max and my beer is consistently about 34 degrees. The regulator is sufficient at this point but I will upgrade. You really have to tweak it to get the proper pressure (I keep it at about 10 psi) after cleaning the beer lines. My kegerator came with a 2 lb co2 tank. I brought it down and swapped it out for a 2.5 lb. I was told when that needs to be refilled I can swap it for a 5lb although the 2.5 is fine as there are several places to fill or swap in my area. This thing fits 2 1/6th barrels no problem so at some point I'm going to to upgrade to the double tap tower and set up the pin lock connection for the Corny keg. Overall I'm loving this thing. You can't beat the price or the prime shipping.

Quality control
By Joseph D. Lanzendorfer on Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2013
If you're wondering how a product can have so many 1 star reviews and so many 5 star reviews, it's because of poor quality control. The bottom line is, these things seem to be hit or miss, and based on the older reviews versus newer reviews, I'd say that they have improved the design over the years, but still have some issues. Let me break down what I went through. This was to be a surprise wedding gift for my brother. Some friends and I are at his house setting it up, and the first thing we notice is that there is a dent on the bottom left. Cometic, so we let it slide. Then we realize that all the tools this unit should have come with are not in the box. An inconvenience but we manage to find the right tools. Some washers are missing too, but nothing vital, so we let it slide. One of the holes for the wheels is not threaded at all, so it won't stay in place. We're not going to move it much so we let it slide again. It wobbles. Whatever, it doesn't wobble when the keg is in it. The door is flimsy. Whatever, it's not going to be constantly opened and closed like a fridge. We just want to get beer out of this thing. We start having problems with the CO2 regulator. We think it works, but the gauges aren't reading right. Fine, we'll tune it blind and never touch it again. What finally sets us off is the valve that connects to the keg tap to pressurize the keg doesn't have a hole drilled in it. It's just a piece of metal blocking the tube. We couldn't figure out why we couldn't get it to work, until we got a good one and realized that the good one has a hole, and the bad one did not. When your quality control is so bad that some manufacturing steps are completely skipped, you have a serious issue. Amazon was great. They paid for UPS to come pick it up at my house, gave me a full refund, and even gave me a $30 credit for all the trouble. I just could not believe how many things were wrong with the unit I got. Amazon could not send a replacement, so I ended up buying the same kegerator from Wal-Mart. Why I gave this brand another shot, I don't know, but they're lucky I did, or else this joke would be getting one star. The one I got from Wal-Mart actually turned out great. Pretty much flawless and no major issues, so Nostalgia Electrics managed to redeem themselves there, but the first one it was like they through as many defective parts as possible into a box. They absolutely much improve quality control, because it's a great value if everything works properly. If it holds up, I might even buy another one, because even if their quality control fails again, I have peace of mind knowing that Amazon stand behind what they sell and I can count on always being satisfied.
