Exactly what I was looking for
By Julia on Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2020
I recently adopted an 8yo furball of love from my local SPCA. He had been surrendered from an unfit home and had to have all his teeth removed due to severe dental disease so he can only eat wet food. I prefer to feed him 3 or 4 small meals a day as I feel it is closer to how he would eat in the wild. Unfortunately it's not sanitary to leave wet food sitting out so all day so I wasn't sure what to do for him while I'm at work. I looked at several different automatic feeders that could be used for wet food and read through tons of reviews finally settling on this one. One of the complaints I saw was about the loud ticking noise this supposedly makes. I have to put my ear right up to it in order to hear it so maybe that's something they fixed and improved recently. I agree with other people that it would be nice if there was a battery life indicator but for the price and overall quality of this product I really can't complain. It's exactly what I needed and I'm very happy with it.

2023 Update - look elsewhere, was good for a brief time, doesn't last.
By .sarah on Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2022
2022/23 update ------ Our feeder stopped working, the timer wouldn't work after changing the batteries. We ordered another one that was under the same item listing, but it must be a newer model because it's not the same product. The dishes are much deeper and a bit more narrow with deeper corners which makes it hard for our cat to get the food out. A lot of the wet food ends up stuck in the corners. We've been using it anyway because it's well passed the return window, bit now the timer seems to be failing on this one as well. Not too happy. 7month update ------- We still use this every night for early morning wet food feedings and it does work for us still. But I've removed 1 star (4 down to 3 stars) because one of the ice packs broke and leaked everywhere. Thankfully nothing got into our cats food, but it did make a huge mess everywhere else. Maybe keep ice packs in a plastic ziplock to be safe. ----------original review below ---------------------- Just want to preface this with this note - (explanation at the bottom): If you have a strong curious cat who is always looking for food - this likely ISN'T the item for you. ------------------ now for the good ------ Wow what a life saver! Our cat is 16 years old and has been getting more needy in terms of how she's fed. She will only eat wet food and started waking us up relentlessly at 7am every morning for food. We managed fine until over the last couple years, it started getting earlier and earlier, until more recently when she'd be begging for food at 5am. We tried literally everything to push it back to 7 am, but she would not adjust. After so long of never getting to sleep past 5am, we were exhausted and bought this as a last attempt to get some rest again. I can so thankfully say, that this item has saved our sleep. The ice packs and removable food trays are great since she only eats wet food. The food stays fine during the night for her to eat in the morning. It's extremely easy to clean and maintain. It took our cat a little while to get used to it, and at first we had to put the tray at our bedroom door, since she was used to waking us up for food. We would have to get up and direct her to the new food dish until she got the hang of it. Then we slowly started moving it further from our room and more towards the kitchen. I did take one star off though because I think the quality/mechanics could be a little better. The actual trays are good quality hard plastic, but the closing lid is a bit flimsy and the timer isn't super accurate. For the price it's a great buy and works fine for us. I do know that some other cats like my mom's, who is stronger and gets into everything, especially if there's food involved - he would have no problem at all popping the lid open with little effort and getting to the food. Luckily our cat isn't as determined or destructive.
