Happily Ever After!
By Betty Gauthier on Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2015
I am not one to take the time to write many reviews but in this case I felt it worth the effort to let other consumers know about my experience with this product. We have a 1 1/2 year old English Springer Spaniel. This last summer he became very ill and was hospitalized for several days. The diagnoses was pancreatitis and hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. He was a very sick little guy and things were very dire for him. Our vet, and the vet who cared for him while in the hospital, were both stupefied that our dog was dealing with these major health issues. He was completely A-typical of the type of dog that suffers from each. He was young, extremely fit, was fed high quality dog food, was NOT given any type of people food, and was always walked on a lead (no carnage eating here!). Anyway, after the long battle of getting our guy to stabilize, we were finally able to take him home after 6 days. He continued on meds for diarrhea and vomiting for an additional week along with being placed on Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care Low Fat Dry Dog Food. Our vet also told us to start using Prozyme with each meal we gave our dog and continue to use it once we transitioned off the prescription food and onto the Fromm Weight Management Gold Dog Food. (Again our dog was very fit but our vet suggested using a high quality dog food that was lower in fat that the Canidae Pure Grain-free Sky we were originally feeding him.) I was skeptical about what the enzyme supplement would do for our little guy. He had been through so much and lost 10% of his body weight while he was sick. My vet told me to be patient and that it would take time for his GI-tract to settle down. After 2 weeks of using Prozyme we noticed a drastic and dramatic change in our dog's stools. No more loose or extremely soft piles! He stools became, dare I say... delightful! Smaller, firm but not hard to pass, and regular like clockwork (3 times a day). We have since transitioned to our new dog food and the slow change while still using Prozyme has been successful. Our dog is feeling so much better and is slowly starting to gain weight. He enjoys his food with the enzyme and starts to drool a little when I am preparing his food. I cannot tell you what a huge relief this is after all we have been through. I am utterly convinced that this product works amazingly well. Our dog is happy and healthy once again and no longer even has the occasional "soft-serve" stools that he used to have before he got ill. I will continue to use this daily in his food forever!

4 dogs and they are all sick!
By Miss Jess on Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2019
My dogs had firm poops.. but the pup brought a case of giardia when we brought her home and holistic vets said this stuff was great for that... hah! 2 days on this stuff and ALL of them have diarrhea and 2/4 are having a little breathing issues... Returning immediately! after i looked it up.. IT CAN HAVE SIDE EFFECTS! Prozyme is not strictly regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. Therefore, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the potential side effects and risks of giving your dog this supplement before you start any dosage schedule or regimen. Lactose Issues for Dogs There are multiple types of Prozyme. The first version of the supplement that was created, simply called Prozyme, contains a certain small quantity of lactose. Lactose is a substance which is found in milk and other dairy products. Like some humans, there are certain dogs that are allergic to or sensitive to lactose. If your pet is lactose allergic or lactose intolerant, he may develop a set of side effects related to the presence of lactose in Prozyme. These side effects typically include some of the following: Vomiting Diarrhea Difficulty with digestion Excessive flatulence Fortunately, you can still provide your pet with the benefits of Prozyme even if he suffers from an inability to properly process lactose. Prozyme Plus is another version of the medicine that contains the same four active ingredient components but which doesn't contain any lactose. Allergic Reactions in Dogs Prozyme is generally quite free of side effects that take place in the majority of dogs. This is because the enzymes that are found in Prozyme are naturally produced in your pet's body, so there's less of a chance that they'll cause him any sort of distress or abnormal effect when you give them to him. However, it's important to keep in mind that your dog may have an allergic reaction to one or more of the other ingredients that are present in Prozyme. Allergic reactions to this supplement can range from mild up to severe and even life threatening. The most severe reactions to Prozyme will typically include the following signs: Difficulty breathing Loss of consciousness Itching Swelling of the face or other parts of the body that come into contact with Prozyme Constipation If you notice these or any other types of unusual reactions to the dosage of Prozyme that you give to your pet, it's a good idea to take your dog in to the vet's office for immediate analysis and treatment. Left unchecked, these reactions may lead to much more severe issues and even to your pet's death. Prozyme is helpful in aiding your pet's digestive system. If your pet is suffering from digestion problems, Prozyme may be able to help. However, persistent digestion problems may be a sign of other underlying conditions. Take your pet in to the vet for a full examination and analysis before beginning Prozyme treatment.
