If you can follow simple instructions, it's a great machine.

I have had this machine for almost 2 months. i haven't had any of the problems experienced by the other people. The unit is solidly built. Doesnt drip. Makes hot coffee. Easy to program. I did it without even reading the instructions; the buttons had enough detail to do it. Brews fast and hot. Makes great coffee...much better than a Mister Coffee(LOL). Of course that is just my opinion. And I AM sort of a coffee snob. At least my brother calls me that because I only drink coffee from Costa Rica. He swears by Community Coffee and can't understand why I would rather pass, than subject myself to that swill. I bet the people here who recommend the mister coffee also love Community and Folgers. UPDATE: After a year and a half of daily use, one rubber grommet wore out and the hot water would no longer go into the brew basket. Called Capresso customer service and they had the new part out to me in a few days, FOR FREE!! Great customer service! Also, every few months or so I run some white vinegar through the machine to clean out the calcium/mineral deposits. This gets its arteries cleared out and the machine runs like new again. Still love this machine and I will surely buy another Capresso when this one wears out.

i would like to amend my review below. things were going well with this coffee maker when i wrote it. after having the MT500 for so long, i figured things would continue to go well with the MT600. i was wrong. first....the lid on the basket starting popping up during brewing and spitting coffee and grinds out all over the place. i called jura and they sent me out a new machine....without the pot. the new machine worked fine so i figured it was just a one time failure. now...i have a "vacume sealed pot" that leaks and doesn't keep coffee hot for more then 30 minutes. i called jura again and was told i'd need to send the entire machine in for them to "inspect". when i asked what i was supoosed to do about coffee in the mean time, i was told that was the best they could do. my opologies for writing a positive review that may have steered someone into buying one of these cheaply made coffee makers. nothing wrong with being cheaply made if the price was cheap but it isn't....far from it. i can tell you all that the MT600 is a piece of junk and not worth $40 let alone the rediculus price they charge for it. spare yourself the grief and stay away folks. if a former fan like myself is done with them (read my glowing review below), the average person will be even more upset. the MT600 is not in the same league as the MT500. DO NOT BUY!...unless you enjoy luke warm coffee. ********************************************************************************************** seldon do i bother to write reviews but a few of the negative comments forced me to this time. have owned the older MT500 for 6 years and it finally gave up the ghost recently. needed another one but discovered it had been replaced with the MT600. i did read up on the new model and was surprised at some of the reviews. some of the comments made me think twice about buying the MT600. luckily...i went ahead and ordered one. first...regarding the made in china and associated negative comments (instead of Portugal). one person went as far as to say the new model "weighed half as much" and "was cheaply made". total BS....they weigh almost the same and the thing feels perfectly solid. not sure why someone would lie like that but hey...it is the internet and everyones an expert. bottom line is they weigh and feel almost identical. second...the cold coffee bit. anyone who uses this coffee maker correctly will not have cold coffee. i remember my sister having problems with cold coffee after i bought an MT500 for her a few years back. come to find out...she was removing the lid to pour and letting all the heat out. she did so because it took too long to fill her huge mug. this machine brews at close to 200 degrees. if you screw it up by removing the lid or leaving it unsealed/unscrewed down tight...that is your ignorance causing the problem. read the instructions people! once the lid has been removed...all bets are off for a hot second cup. third...coffee spills when pouring. again...read the instructions folks. if the lid is secure and lined up as the instructions say, you'll have no problems with spills. yes...it does pour slowly when done correctly. that's how it was designed. if you must pour your coffee in 2 seconds....this is NOT the coffee maker for you. look elsewhere. if you're doing everything correctly and still have the above issues....there is something wrong with your unit...end of story. bottom line with this machine is it still makes the best coffee out there. can't tell you how many people i've introduced this coffee maker to and have run out and purchased it shorty afterwards. also can't tell you how many other coffee makers i've compared it to....some costing way more. brewing temp and no heat after brewing are the keys to this things success. you won't find a better cup of coffee anywhere.
