I was able to assemble the shelf by myself within an hour - it probably would've taken less time had I not been on the phone chatting - and once assembled, it looks simple but beautiful. I love how the wood feels sturdy and is evenly stained with no blemishes, dents, or dings in the wood, and how durable to shelf feels. It is free-standing, so it's not necessary to lean up against the wall, and it comes with straps to attract it to a wall to avoid tippage or the chance of it falling over, which is great for people who live in earthquake country as I do. The color is as rich and pretty as it is in the stock photo and each shelf is durable enough to hold a good number of decor pieces and books. Overall, it's a great shelf to consider if you are looking for a non-boxy-looking shelf to fill a small space.
