This is AWSOME!!!

I have a 20lb cavachon who likes to ride in the car in my lap. I was feeling like maybe that wasnt the safest way to travel. So, I tried to get her to stay in her bed in the back of the car. I wasnt having consitant luck with that. I realize that was mostly my problem as I was not consistant. Sometimes, I'd let her up on my lap and sometimes I wouldnt. So, I decided we needed to be safe which meant she couldnt ride on my lap. I ordered this seat net. It is AWSOME! Very easy to install - about 5 min total. It fits my car very well (Subaru Outback) and does just what it says it does. She can not get through or around it and it keeps her in the back. However, she is less than thrilled about it. Our first trip, about 30 min long, she whimpered and cried he entire time. I stayed strong and kept her in the back. Second trip - a little less crying. I figure that eventually she will adjust and will right without any crying. I do feel that it is much safer. My attention is on the road and I am not disctracted by her moving in my lap. I would totally recommend this to any pet owner. It gets 2 thumbs up from me!!! Update: We have had this now for about a month. My dog is now used to being in the back. She sits in her bed and watches the world go by or plays with her ball. She has adjusted and now hops happily into the back seat. She just loves to be able to ride along!!! I highly suggest this to any pet owner. Wonderful product!

Very flimsy looking

We have a dog that loves to try to climb over to the front which is dangerous when driving. So after numerous searching, I came across this as it was similar to my idea of what might work for us. Despite the reviews, I figured it would perhaps work for us even if it didn’t for others. In this case, sometimes it’s good to go with reviews. CONS: It arrived with damaged screen which seems like it was due to Velcro coming in contact with the net. As for stability I doubt this would have lasted. It’s super flimsy that I guarantee my dog would have broke through the net as the netting is super thin. I could pretty much break through with my finger if I tried. VERY difficult to fold back to put away. PROS: Assembling looked easy to attach to head rest. The size seemed decent for an SUV. Unfortunately had to return it.

We bought this net barrier because our large puppy (60 lbs at 8 months old right now) would always step on the center console in our 2002 Camry and try to stay there while we were driving (distracting and dangerous). When we would go through a drive-thru, he would try to launch himself into the front seats. I installed this barrier yesterday - pretty quick and easy to do - and tried it out this morning. Our pup was surprised at first but didn't try to force his way through it or around/over it. He still put his nose on the sides of the headrests that were open, but he can't fit through those areas, so it's not a problem. He mostly realized he was stuck in the back because of the barrier and just accepted it. Driving was a MUCH more relaxing experience! I could see through the barrier fine, so there was no reduced visibility for driving. For a dog that is a maniac and will try to force through the barrier, I'm not sure how effective it would be. But if your dog is likely to be deterred just by having a barrier in place, this one seems like a great option! Affordable, easy to use, easy to remove, and gets the job done.

I bought this product when I got my new dog, a 3-year-old German Shepherd. She is a rescue dog so I do not know her background but what was obvious on the way home from the shelter was that she hadn't been on many car rides. I have a small SUV and no matter what I did, I could not get her to remain in the back seat. Fearing her safety as well as mine, and not wanting to leave her at home all the time or take her to a kennel when we go to the lake, I purchased this item. The good...It does keep Kenzie in the back seat, most of the time. It is mesh so I can still interact with her as we travel. The barrier is decent-looking. If needed, the barrier can remain installed when not in use. The not-so-good...The barrier is a little flimsy. I think a larger or more-determined dog could knock it right out of place. I've been working with Kenzie and taking her for many car rides so she's a bit less excited when we go places. While the barrier is mesh, it does slightly obstruct the view from the rearview mirror. Someone with a smaller dog might be able to position it a bit lower to solve that problem. Kenzie is still able to stick her entire upper body along the side of the seats and the doors. While this barrier isn't designed to address that issue at all, having a barrier in one place means she does try to get a better view from another place. The barrier is slighly annoying to install and take out. The metal stability rod that runs vertically from top to bottom is very flimsy and would not likely restrain a large dog who really wanted to get in the front seat. The annoying part of installation relates to a seat cover I have to protect leather seats. It attaches in the same place. It's not a big deal and I expected to deal with it, but it is something to plan around when going somewhere. Without the seat protector issue, installation could be done in less than 5 minutes and would likely be no hassle at all. While this item does keep Kenzie in the back, I once left her in the car when I ran an errand and when I returned, she was proudly sitting in the front seat. The barrier was still intact so I figure she just slipped through the side of the seat and the door. I would purchase the item again. I think having the barrier has allowed Kenzie the chance to get used to staying in the back seat. In a way, it has acted as a training tool. I went for about 3 months without any sort of barrier and once I got this, it made me aware of just how stressful traveling with Kenzie was before. I take her more places and feel comfortable that she's not going to bolt out the door and into traffic when I get out. Happy travels.

This screen works great! It keeps my two large mixed breed dogs in the back seat. I did not realize how stressful driving was until I installed this. I felt so much more relaxed and at ease while driving since I didn't have to keep my arm braced against the other seat to block the dogs from climbing on my lap. Phew. I actually enjoy taking them with me in the car again. (They are not happy about it and give me the stink eye through the screen.) They did stick their faces around the sides of the headrests, but that doesn't matter. They can't climb forward anymore. I left them in the car when I ran in the post office, and they didn't break through. It is very large and totally fills the space between the seats. I think that's why it works. They didn't even try to break through or get around it. If it were smaller, I think they would try to squeeze around it or bust it down. But is just fills the space and they don't even consider getting past it. It is not particularly heavy, sturdy or durable. I think if they really wanted, they could rip it and bust through. But it is such a complete barrier that they don't consider it. I have tried a couple of other ways to keep them in back, and this is the best one. I am very pleased. I recommend it. UPDATE: I wrote that original review the first day I had it. I wanted this to work. I really did. But my dogs figured out that they can stick their faces around the edge of the screen. In a matter of seconds they have it bent over and twisted and they are halfway in the drivers seat. I think it would be good for dogs that aren't really motivated to get up front or for smaller dogs. I give it 3 stars now, and that's mostly based on my desire for it to work, not it's actual performance. I am very disappointed. I had a taste of what it would be like to have them in the back.....

I have a 5 MOS old, 50 lb Airedale puppy who LOVES to sit in the front seat. He also enjoyed chewing on things as he laid there, so, for everyone's safety, he MUST stay in back. We first bought a pet hammock which is awesome for protecting the seat, and would supposedly discourage pets from getting in front. My Standard Poodle has always hopped over it, and as soon as my Airedale was large enough, he, too, wasn't deterred. I then tried a different type net barrier that came only to the top of the headrests. The second day, my Airedale was able to scramble over the top of it. Once he discovered he could, the barrier was useless. I then purchased the Solvit Front Seat Net Pet Barrier. Some reviews have described it as being flimsy, but I see it as flexible which is necessary to install it in a cramped space. We've been using it for 2 weeks now, and so far so good. My Airedale has stayed safely contained in the back seat. One thing I did to make it a little more secure was to add a bungie cord that goes a little higher on the headrest
works good, downgrading

let me start off by saying my dog is well behaved and has not tried to push through the barrier but on the other hand, without one she would try to sneak her way up to the front and now she does not even try. The visible barrier is enough. it seems sturdy and when I would push on it as if I were a dog, it was pretty sturdy. I think a large hyper dog can push through it though if he wanted too. It works great for me and using in a small SUV. update- This barrier is still holding up well and no problems at all. My two shepherds at times will nudge it but it holds up and looks as good as new. I keep it on 100% of the time as its easy to see through and does not hurt visibilty. I see a lot of 1 star reviews. If you have a strong determined dog nothing short of steel tubes will work. I find the quality to be good. Once it got bent out of shape (I hit it while removing something) and thought it was bent/broke but it snapped right back to its original shape. updgrading from 4 to 5 stars as it works for me and fits nice and good quality. It keeps my two germanshepherds behind me. final update- 6/13. downgrading this to 2 stars. It was used about 10 times since the last update and not too impressed. My one shepherd learned he can wiggle in from the side and muscle his way up front. The plastic rod that provides vertical tension snapped and its pretty much useless now for him. The other dog still does not try to get up front as she is deterred by the physical appearance of a barrier but if you have an active curious dog this will not keep him/her in the back. search goes on for a decent barrier..

Ok, first off, keep in mind that this barrier is as sturdy as a screen door. It's just netting, folks, so don't expect it to stop a dog that's truly determined to get through, no matter what their size. What I wanted this for was to train a new English Mastiff puppy who got it into her head that she wanted to sit in the front seat with her humans. While it would have been cute now, at her full size of 180 lbs., it would have been a safety hazard, to say the least. I knew she already minded the screen door at home, so I was hoping this would be a good training aid for her at her current age of 4 months (and 60 lbs.). The unit was easy to assemble in the SUV and is easy to remove as well. And, fortunately for me, worked exactly as expected. She no longer tries to climb in front, but settles down on the dog bed in back or looks out the other windows. I'm going to keep it in place since it doesn't obstruct my rear view for a few more months just to cement it in her head that the back of the SUV is her spot and the front seats are mine.

I have a 10-year-old 70 pound golden lab. He’s an old man but for some reason every time I go to the grocery store he has to climb in the front seat. Most of the time we go to the store after playing at a lake so he gets into the front seat and makes my seat all wet! He doesn’t have a ton of energy so I just needed something that would prevent him from getting in the front and this does the job. PROS - prevents chill dogs from getting up front - stuffs away when not needed - can still see out your rearview mirror CONS - this does NOT work with a backseat hammock cover - the hooks are D-rings. A regular buckle would be best/easiest - if you have a dog that is willing to get into anything this may not work for high energy pup, as they would be able to get around it Was it worth the money? For my dog yes but I don’t think it will work for super high energy dogs. For reference we have a 2008 Dodge nitro and a 2022 Tacoma. It fits in both.
Good deterrent.

This was fairly easy to install. I didn't recieve instructions so I have no idea where the anchor is supposed to be placed. The AC/heat flow can easily pass through to the back seat. You can see through it to see in the back and for backing up. Good deterrent but if your dogs don't give AF they will easily get through. Our lab will climb Mount Everest to be near us and she buckled the coupling for the support rods. Our shepsky is really a jackalope in disguise. She keeps looking for ways to sneak through any gaps between the barrier and the seats. She has managed to slip her head through in certain spots but has yet to figure out how to get passed. It's just a matter of time. Our catahoula doesn't even bother. Still for the price it is helping and worth a shot. Not all dogs are the same.
