Got this for my 11 year old rescued pitbull. I already had another brand an extra long bi-fold model made of aluminum. I used to use the aluminum one for my old Chesapeake Bay Retriever. It worked well for the dogs and fit into the back of my 4X4 Chevy truck. It was sturdy but heavy and getting it folded and stowed in the truck became more and more of a chore. Fortunately my old dog passed away, before I did, from wrestling that heavy ramp. I stopped using the ramp since my pitbull could get into the trucks front cab with me. When I sold the truck and got a jeep wrangler, it became a challenge for my dog to get into the Jeep. My old ramp would not fit into the new car so I started looking for something easier to manage that took up less space and was usable for my critter. I narrowed down the choices to the tri-fold one with carpet and the other without. The one with the sandy surface was similar to the older ramp. None of my dogs had a problem with the sandy traction surface so I got it. I really like how small the tri-fold packed up and how easy it was to fold/unfold. It fits well in the Jeep and although it has a steeper slope when set up than my old extra long one, it works great. Although my dog had never used a ramp, a string cheese stick and the desire to "go for ride" got her up and down the ramp in two tries. She could jump into the Jeep but jumping out was getting to be a challenge and like my dog (getting old), I was also finding it a challenge to lift her down out of the Jeep. She seems to really enjoy the ramp and I know the stress of in and out of the Jeep is greatly reduced for both of us. The surface of the ramp is getting scratched by her toenails from her first tries using the ramp but now she knows the routine there has been no further significant wear. It is a lightweight ramp but seems to be very sturdy in use. I still am working on the most efficient way to fold/unfold it while hanging on to the dogs leash.

A little awkward and cumbersome, but felt sturdy and it served its purpose well enough.

It served it's purpose but is a little awkward to use. It does fold up, but not how I expected it to; it doesn't just fold and unfold so that it's open and ready to use, the bottom folds over the top, if that makes sense. It's a bit cumbersome. It never slipped off the back of my car though, and felt pretty stable while in use. It was a bit too steep for my senior German Shepherd (with hip displaysia) to climb up by herself, but she could walk down it just fine. I have a special harness for her back end that helped me get her up the ramp. **Side note: I strongly recommend the Help 'em up Harness. It was a lifesaver for my German Shepherd!** For the cost, it got the job done. I think a telescoping ramp would have been better for ease of storage, as this one took up a lot of room in the car, but it got the job done.
