Works well, but I wish I had chosen differently.

I've had several of this type of heater from Bonaire, so I'm generally a fan. We have a four bedroom home and we really only use the family room/kitchen in the back of the house. On the second floor, we only use one bedroom and bath so there's no need to use gallons of home heating oil to warm the whole house. I leave the thermostats at 51 and heat the rooms we use with these micathermic heaters. This heater, unlike the model 3950, has significantly more too hot to touch surfaces. I would NOT recommend this heater if you have small children around, but it does keep the rooms comfortable. Well worth the money.

Disappointed

Quick Review: + Convection and Radiant Heat + Thermostat worked as expected, unlike most heaters. + Light - Only lasted 4 months - Went out with a bang, and sparks... - Made loud banging and popping sounds intermittently - Fan was tiny (read: worthless) and made a whiny high-pitched sound - No fan switch - it just turns on when heater is set to "high" instead of "low" Full review: Well, I guess since the heater just went out, It's time to write a review of it. It lasted slightly over 4 months, which is just pathetic in my opinion. It is still in the 1 year warranty, but I will not be seeking a replacement (reason below). As for when it DID work, I still wasn't the greatest heater I've had by a long shot. My Marvin Marvin Convection Baseboard Heater - 1500 Watt, Model# 3150 is still going strong and silent... too bad the company isn't around anymore. I'd buy another if they were. If you're expecting a silent heater, keep looking. I would call this heater "mostly silent." In a quiet room, it is silent except for every few minutes. I'll do my best to imitate what you may hear when using this heater, from on to off: <on> click BZZZZZT POP POP POP. . . . . . . . . . . BANG . . . . . . POP POP . . . . . . BANG . . . . . click <off> . . BANG . . POP BANG. So, yeah, definitely DO NOT recommend for the bedroom at night. Oh, and the fan inside is tiny, and therefore has a rather whiny noise to it when turned on. I kept it off. What I did like about it was the way it heated. It puts out lots of convection heat from the top, but a very slight infrared-type heat as well. It's enough to warm the carpet within about a 2 ft. radius, but not enough to burn anything without putting it directly above or beside it. What I HATED about it was the way it failed: it made a small fireworks show. Not a nice thing to wake up to at 2am. Nothing caught fire, but that is still very unacceptable. I would only allow this type of heater away from anything flammable.
