Terrific Turkey - sounds about right
By f-squared on Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2012
To use this, you stick the metal probe into the turkey, place the cheesy-looking turkey-shaped device on the counter, and wait as the turkey cooks until it beeps. A cable connects the metal probe and the device, which sticks through the edge of a closed oven door. I used Terrific Turkey this Thanksgiving to monitor a turkey in the oven, and thanks to it, the turkey came out great! Also good to know:- The thermometer comes with a battery in its package.- The back of the device is magnetic as advertised, but the oven I used was non-magnetic.

If you're really concerned about the temperature, get a real thermometer. I liken this more to one of the popup timers...though I believe they typically pop at 5-10 degrees past the target 165. I just had too many people coming to dinner and couldn't risk it, so I put this in one breast and my other thermometer in the other. My digital hit 165 and this never went off. I left it in when I pulled the turkey, but it still didn't go off in the 30 minutes the bird was resting. Not sure when it would have went off, but I decided I'd just chuck it in the trash for $4.50.
