Sturdy and Easy to use

Bought this to make mashed potatoes. Used it on cooked gold potatoes with milk and butter. I have always used beaters or a stand mixer for mashed potatoes so this was the first time I tried a masher. It works GREAT...and fast and the potatoes were smooth. I'm impressed. This is a nicely built, sturdy masher that has a nice handle. I threw it in the dishwasher after I used it and it came out clean and in good condition. Nice product

Would be a great masher but built to break in a year or two

I like the masher. Size, holes, metal - all are very good. It would last you a lifetime, but that is not what Jamie Oliver wants to happen. The item is designed to break in a year or two so you get a new one. The other side of masher's handle (opposite of the metal shiny one) is designed in such a way that all pressure/force you create while mashing would apply to the plastic part of the handle which will cause eventual breakage due to flimsy two-piece construction. I'm guessing that also why the picture of the other side is so dim and much smaller that you cannot really see details.All these conglomerates keep on talking about curbing carbon emissions, but all they have to do is to produce goods that last...that would curb quite a bit of that carbon, wouldn't it?I rarely write reviews, but this got me really pissed so I wrote one. I was hoping to get that "last a lifetime" masher that my son will use after me which is why I paid $20 for this one. Thanks Oliver!
