A fun and durable race car truck set
By iiiireader on Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2015
My grandson is just turning 2 years old shortly and he absolutely loves anything to do with "Cars". He also loves trucks, so this toy is the perfect one for him. While they aren't exactly the same, they make a nice stand-in for Lightning McQueen and Mack for a toddler. I was able to purchase this set when it was on sale here on Amazon, so I got a great deal, too. For play, we are having so much fun with one race car, that I am planning on buying the matching blue car so we can race back and forth. He likes to take the car and truck separately and run them across the floor. He's already figured out that they work best on hard surfaces, so he looks for wood, tile, and table tops. As it turns out, the race car fits really well on the top of our window ledge. The whole toy is made of of recycled materials, so it is great to know that something that has been re-purposed is bringing so much joy to a little one. I've bought a number of toys by Green Toys and they are all really durable and can take some pounding. My grandson has developed a bad habit of throwing his toys across a tile floor to make a loud noise (did I mention he is almost two? He yells "No" while he does it.) In any case, the Green Toys make the satisfactory noise and don't get damaged from the abuse. I'm working on getting him to only throw balls but he may need to be a little older before this lesson completely sinks in. This is a fun toy for any boy or girl who likes trucks or cars and is especially great for those who have a passion for them. When he comes to my house on weekdays, he heads right for these car/truck toys first thing and we spend many hours "talking" about them and playing race cars. They bring a lot of joy to him and that brings a lot of joy to me, too.

PL EASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING...
By GoodMorningLife234 on Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2021
I almost never give ratings this low. I hate to do it here because I have been a huge Green Toys fan for several years now. I have written several other five star reviews. HOWEVER, we have had such a negative experience this winter. Basically, we firmly believe something changed this year in their manufacturing process. I read a few cautionary reviews here and there about a strong awful scent but thought, "How bad could this possibly be?" or "Maybe it is just stored by laundry detergent?" So, I ordered toys anyway for Christmas. This one (WHICH CANNOT BE RETURNED FYI), the new fire plane, the adorable play house toy, the dump truck that is also a combo shape sorter, and the green and red Christmas train, ALL WREAKED of this nasty perfume, chemical scent. I cannot even tell you how bad it is. They each had it to various degrees but all of them still made us feel sick. Some of them were so bad my spouse and I felt sick the rest of the day, especially with lung and throat irritation. At first I thought it was just the cardboard on the toy, so I tried the following: airing out in fresher air, setting it aside for weeks to "out gas." NOTHING WORKS. One toy we were stuck with so we decided to try soaking it in a bathtub. It has now been soaking for NINE days and still smells awful. If you Google this you will find numerous complaints about this recently and on their other toys besides these. If they address this issue and fix it in future toys, I will change my score as I have always loved this brand. However, I cannot in good conscience give anything above a one star at this point. This wasted a ton of resources... all the shipping, reshipping the ones I could return, researching other toy options, and reordering. Yes, this is definitely a first world issue. I wholeheartedly admit to that. Yet, for families out there like ours who have significant health sensitivities to chemicals and rely on certain brands to be what they promise, I have to be honest. I sincerely hope this issue is rectified and they go back to whatever process they used before that had no smell that lingered whatsoever. For now, I recommend calling the company, waiting to purchase when numerous reviews (not just one or two) all indicate there was no smell whatsoever, or buying these from friends whose kids are past this age if you can find them. I hope this helps someone and saves you some time.
