Great Heat Protection with a Slight Fit Issue
By Marlin J Brandys on Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2024
I recently purchased the Lodge Silicone Hot Handle Holder, and overall, I am very pleased with its performance. It provides excellent heat protection, allowing me to handle my hot cast iron skillet safely without any discomfort. This is a fantastic addition to my kitchen tools, especially when using my Lodge cast iron skillet in the oven or on the stovetop. One minor issue I encountered is that the fit is a little loose. I understand this is likely because it needs to be easily removable for cleaning, but the looseness can make holding the pan handle a bit of a challenge at times. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's something to be mindful of during use. As long as you are aware of this, it remains an acceptable and useful tool.Despite the slight fit issue, I still give it five stars overall because of the excellent heat protection and the convenience it adds to cooking with cast iron. The material is durable and easy to clean, which is a big plus.In summary, the Lodge Silicone Hot Handle Holder is a great product that enhances the safety and ease of using cast iron cookware. Just be cautious of the loose fit, and you'll find it to be a valuable addition to your kitchen.

Could be better for my circa 2013 Lodge 10in skillet
By MW on Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2020
Fair warning: I bought this for a 10" Lodge skillet that I purchased new around 2013, this review may not hold for other sizes or skillets manufactured at other times in the company's history. This handle fits very loosely over the handle of my Lodge 10" skillet. While I would not say it is an imminent danger that the pan might slip out of this holder, I could see that as a possibility. It is very heat resistant when using on the stove-top even at high temperatures. Keep in mind that if you were to leave this on while baking the pan at, say 350F, the handle cover still comes out at oven temperature. It is rated to 450F, but I usually take it off when placing the pan in the oven because the holder is hot (as I mentioned) and the grip on the pan between my oven mitts, this slightly loose handle cover, and the piping hot pan, is not as secure as I would like.I use this with an electric range, but I could see that using this handle on a gas burner -- cranked up so lots of heat & flame are lost around the edges of the pan -- might leave the handle melted or hot enough to burn yourself. Then again there is no handle is going to be safe to touch in that instance so I consider that a ding against this product.Pros:- Heat resistant as advertised, even at high stove-top temperatures- Super bright color- Easy to clean: Wipe off or run through dish washer, as you preferCons:- Fits my skillet very looselyI really wanted to love this thing, but frankly I thought about returning it due to the poor grip on the skillet. It's about 0.25" too wide and thus slides around unless you grasp it with a fair amount of force. I leave it on most of the time, but given the lousy fit I wouldn't be brokenhearted to go back to using a pot holder or kitchen towel for handling a hot skillet.Perhaps this fits some skillets better than mine, but because it advertises "Fits Lodge Keyhole handle skillets 9 inch diameter and up" and fits my 2013-era Lodge 10" keyhole handle skillet relatively poorly I've awarded it three stars. If this were a pair of casual shoes that were a tad too wide perhaps a minor sizing issue might warrant 4/5 stars, however a greasy handle could easily slip off the cover and out of the grasp of someone who was frail or inattentive. I would not say don't buy it, just caveat emptor.
