I am flying Proud now!
By Macgyuver on Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2013
I bought this after reading several reviews so I knew what I was getting into. If you are looking to fly one flag of lighter weight then this pole will work fine for you. If you are wanting to fly heavier weight flags or multiple flags there is some work that will need to be done to make this pole work for you. I fly two flags on my pole, Amercian flag on top that is heavy weight and Pirate flag on bottom that is light weight, both are 3' x 5'. I would not be able to fly both if I didnt renforce the pole from the inside. I also increased the base for the pole as well to counter the added weight to the pole of the flags and the renforcement. If you are looking for a setup like mine this is what you can do for a trouble free flag flying. Double the base reccomended by the manufacture. I dug down twice as deep and spread out almost twice as wide. I doubled the rock and sand so i could make sure that the pole sleeve would drain properly, this is very important if you dont want the pole to rot away over time. the rest of the hole was concrete for the added weight to hold the pole in place. Now for the pole I bought 4 10 foot sticks of PVC pipe from a home improvement store. This can be found in the electrical supplies. I used electrical PVC because it is more plyable than plumbing PVC. I would imagine you can use either one but electrical was cheaper for me :) The pole is 2" so I bought two 1 3/4" pipes and 2 1 1/4" pipes. I cut eh bells off the pipes at different locations to stagger the joints. then inserted the poles into the flag pole. This renforces the flag pole alot. I now fly my flags around the clock and have yet to have any weather that has scared me to take my flags down. I have made it through an entire North Carolina spring, summer, and fall season so far with no troubles and both flags flying high.

Poor Quality and Does Not Stand Behind Product
By Kristin V. on Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2017
DO NOT PURCHASE - VALLEY FORGE WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THIS PRODUCT! Purchased this as a Father's Day / Birthday gift for my father-in-law. He installed the flag pole per directions summer of 2016. The pole starting to bend toward the base by the ground. He contacted Valley Forge directly, and they will not stand behind this product because 1) it is past the warranty and 2) there is a solar light installed between the top of the pole and the ball. We do live in Wisconsin, but the weather isn't that extreme that a flagpole would only last less than a year. Also, the solar light (which they are awesome and the one I specifically purchased for my father-in-law was the Solar Flag Pole Light by Denver, which I highly recommend) is only 1.2 pounds. I purchased a Valley Forge steel flag pole for my husband in June 2013, which also has a separately purchased solar light attached at the top to try to properly display the flag, and that flagpole is standing strong through the Wisconsin weather no issues. A little white paint chipping off the pole, but that is to be expected. Satisfied with that purchase, though. Because of the quality of that flag pole, I thought Valley Forge would have a nice aluminum flag pole to purchase as a gift for my father-in-law, but that's not the case. More disappointing, though, is that they will not stand behind this product. I highly recommend not purchasing this flag pole. Also, if customer service is something important to you, I suggest purchasing from another company and not Valley Forge.
