Milliliter measurements and markings are off. Waaaaaaay off.

I was happy to discover that these measuring spoons have markings in milliliters; however, not so happy to discover that the markings are inaccurate. I nearly botched a serious project because of it. I couldn't figure out what I had done wrong until I thought to check the accuracy of the spoons using two different medical syringes. The tablespoon indicates that it holds 15 ml. For one thing, a tablespoon equals 14.7868 ml, not 15 ml. Not only is it inaccurate in its marking, but it only holds 13 ml -- 2 ml short of 15 ml (yes, this is significant -- 2 ml is greater than 1/4 teaspoon). I won't document the rest of the discrepancies, but all of the spoons are marked inaccurately and hold significantly less than indicated on the markings. As far as the measurements for the United States customary system, these are close, but not perfect. When compared with another set of spoons in my kitchen, these still hold slightly less. If you do buy them for measuring liquid ingredients for cooking, anticipate that you will need to fill your spoons to almost overflowing capacity (for example, if your recipe calls for 1/8 t of vanilla extract, your spoon will need to be filled with as much as it can hold before spilling over). Do not buy if you need to measure in milliliters.

I generally use metal measuring spoons. Having recently moved I couldn't find my set so just quickly grabbed these off Amazon. I love them! There's even a 1/2 Tablespoon measure. I don't even care if I never find my metal set.

Usually I'm not a fan of combining delivery issues with a product rating, but I'm pretty sure this shipped directly from manufacturer. Either way I felt like it was that package that Tom Hanks delivered at the end of castaway it took so long. I forgot I had even ordered it. I haven't tested it's accuracy, but if they don't bend (which they don't) and they are dishwasher safe than these are a sold four stars. I'm not sure what a measuring spoon has to do to get my five star. What can I say I'm a bit of a harsh measuring spoon critic I'm discovering.

Solid set of measuring spoons

I'm pretty happy with these measuring spoons. The extra smaller sizes below 1/4 teaspoon have come in handy more than I thought they would. The spoons themselves are great, the plastic is surprisingly thick, and these don't bend at all, even when scooping out something like tahini. The rubber thumbgrips also feel comfortable, and provide excellent grip. Two minor quibbles are why I gave them a 4 instead of a 5. First, I was hoping the elongated shape would help at least the teaspoon measure fit inside a standard spice jar, but no such luck. Everything smaller than a teaspoon fits, but my two most commonly used sizes are still relegated to me dumping spices into them. The other issue is very minor, and not generally a problem. The thick plastic continues all the way to the edge of the bowl. It would have been nice to have a taper to make getting into non-powdered items a bit easier. Overall though, I'd definitely recommend these measuring spoons.
