Betta Fishes Paradise! Please buy this!!!!
By Katelyn on Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2014
Hey fellow fish lovers!! My tank arrived on time without any broken areas or issues. It comes with a filter, 1 filter cartridge, air pump, lights and bubbler and of course all the various tubes and things. It has a clear hood so you can see the lights on the ceiling which is so beautiful. This is a great deal and had a fairly easy setup. This a great tank for beginners! I love it so far. I don't have water in it and won't buy my fish for a couple weeks (cycling tank) so I might update it then! My first impression is a great one but we will see! :) Update: As promised I will give you an update :-) it has been about a month-ish of having my tank I now have a betta fish, two ghost shrimp and two snails in my tank :-) it has been a great set up! In the beginning I had trouble with the filter bubbling like crazy but with time it seemed to get better and also a filter change really did the trick when it started bubbling profusely again weeks later. I managed to shove a house and a large plant as decorations in the tank :-) I wouldn't trust people when they say they couldn't keep anything alive in the tank. You have to cycle the tank for best results and also use a water conditioner. This is my very first tank and I am a complete newcomer to the fish keeping world. But I have kept my overstocked tank happy and healthy for the last two weeks because I did my research and do regular water changes. This tank has a unique shape, an adjustable air pump, LED lighting and filter for an amazing price. I am very satisfied with this purchase and hope you get to experience this tank in your home :-) I would definitely recommend and encourage you to buy this product! Happy fish keeping! 2nd update: It is still a great tank :-) I have had my sweet fish Leonardo in this tank for about two months and he is happily swimming around his fun home! I have probably had this tank for about 3 to 4 months for the cycling process and I have been very pleased by this product! This is definitely a steal it is a great tank for newbies :-) at the end of the day I love sitting watching the colors change and Leonardo making his rounds swimming around the plants and through The cords! Please buy this Tank it is so cheap and such a great find! Thank you guys for reading and happy fish keeping!

Pretty tank, but not the best "starter" aquarium
By Wallace Trust on Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2022
I'm writing this from the perspective of someone who has successfully kept aquariums for over fifty years. The tank itself is a nice size and shape and perfect for a batch of guppy fry, a betta, or other small tropical fish. Three gallons is not too small; with a fully cycled filter you could easily keep half a dozen mature guppies in there. As others have stated, the lid does not fit perfectly once the tank is filled with water. This is poor engineering. My workaround was to take three strips of white masking tape and fasten them on the back edge of the lid and the back of the tank to make 'hinges.' This makes it a lot easier to open and close the tank lid without dropping it in the water, and it is not super obvious from the front side. Another common complaint about the tank is the difficulty of getting the bubble wand to lie flat on the bottom of the tank. There is a really good workaround for this. Please look up "Aquarium Suction Cups, for Fish Tank Airline Tubing" here on Amazon. Lots of sellers have these, this is just an example. I used several of these suction cups under the gravel, placing the first one near the connection between the airline and the bubble wand. I put both the air line and the (very thin, seems like inadequate insulation) electrical wire in these suction clips, then covered it with gravel. Works perfectly, and no problems with the bubble wand ever getting loose. Unfortunately, the bubble wand lights, while pretty, are not bright enough to illuminate the tank, while the bubble curtain set on full blast creates a current which is much too strong for small fish to handle on a 24-hour basis. Be aware that the constantly swirling current of this bubble wand on the full setting may stress your fish to the point of death! For my guppy fry, I turned the bubbles down so only a single section of the wand is working. And if you want the tank to be properly illuminated, you will have to go looking for an appropriate light. Although I enjoy the beauty of this tank, none of my improvisations should be necessary. The suction clips should be included in the kit, and the tank walls should be stiff enough to not bend when it is filled. The lid definitely should have had hinges to begin with, and there is a lot of extra bother and ugliness with the two air lines that drive this tank. I can easily imagine how a beginner could quickly be frustrated by this 'starter kit.' There is one really good accessory included in this kit: the novel air-driven internal filter. I've never seen one of these before. While some here think it is too weak, the slow flow is absolute perfection for a weak-swimming betta or for small fry, and there are no electrical parts to break. I LOVE this filter! So that's about it. Basically, this kit was a great concept, but falters in execution. I don't regret buying it, but a true beginner will probably feel otherwise.
