Cat loves it!
By Janet on Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2012
This is almost the cheapest cat furniture on market, but it's surprisingly good! So easy to set up. Tools are included. It's sturdy. I sit on it sometimes when my cat's not using it. Cat sleeps on top shelf, so she stop sleeping with me. I put it by the window in bedroom (uploaded photos). She loves to sit on top and look out the window, and gradually falls asleep. Her life style seems much cozier with this stool! She scratch the top surface whenever she wakes up, and she uses the scratching area on the bottom shelf as well. But I've Never seen her use the 2 posts that are meant for scratching. Maybe due to the insufficient hight. ps: My cat is scared of almost everything. Fist day after I set it up, put her on it, she got scared and run away. I thought I made a bad purchase. Then I seduced her to go up there with food. Once she became familiar with it, I move the stool by the window where she loves to hang out. 2 hours later I saw her sitting on the stool. If you have a shy cat like mine, you may put it by the window, put cloth that has familiar scent to the cat on the stool, and I think cat will use it after a while. Update: After 2 years, the stool is pretty much worn. I came back to buy another, and saw that the price increased from $21-$45! Don't know if I want to pay that much. I'm gonna look around.

My Cat Hates The Paper Posts
By T-Lo on Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2016
The "high durable total paper made posts" are a complete non-starter with my cat. I give this item three stars because there's nothing 'wrong' with the actual build of it. It seems sturdy, the top is fine for lounging, it's easy to put together and all the necessary items to put it together were included. However, my cat absolutely HATES it. She just refuses to scratch these paper posts. I bought this to replace an older rope/twine scratching post that she destroyed and even though it LOOKS like the rope/twine posts that she's used to, she quickly realized the difference. I had no idea this would be such a deal breaker. No matter how much catnip I lather on this thing, she won't change her mind so now I'm stuck having to buy a replacement with real rope posts.

Sturdy and simple, but ...

The piece just arrived today. Was able to assemble it in less than 5 minutes. It is pretty sturdy and, I believe, would easily fit into any decor. The only disappointment is that the "scratching posts" are not jute/sisal. That the description calls the posts "scratching," and that the actual picture looks like sisal, I assumed that they would be. They appear to be tightly wound thin rolls of heavy brown paper...like if you rolled a heavy, brown paper bag into long strips and wound it around a tube. Anyway, that's not a deal breaker. The top and part of the base are jute. It's been set up for about 20 minutes. Both cats (one 5 lb kitten and one 11 lb "solid" cat) have been on top, checked out the bottom, but have not "scratched" on the rolls. I think it's a good purchase, though, for the sturdiness and look of it. I think the cats will enjoy it by the window and for territorial "playtime." As is always the case, the box that it arrived in has been more intriguing than the piece of furniture, itself. (As I finish this, the kitten is going crazy on the top of it. However, I did sprinkle catnip on it to entice them. The older cat has left the room)
The cats don't like this

This isn't made of the kind of rope that cats like to scratch. It's made of some kind of paper that's very slippery for the cats, so they don't like it. They can't sink their claws in. They will sit on top, but won't scratch it at all. Now I'm stuck with a useless... thing... and out $30.

I have bough 3 of these scratching posts. The first one was great it allowed you to flip the posts so the cats would get the most use out of it. The last two I have purchased have not allowed this. It gets a bit expense and I haven't found a good way to re-wrap the posts to get more use out of them.My cats do love sitting on them and they are sturdy.
Perfect for my Cats

I needed a cat tree in the sun room that my cats could sit on and look out the window at the birds and squirrels. This cat tree was the perfect height for the long low windows in the sun room. An added bonus is that they also love scratching it -- and it's heavy enough not to tip over when our larger male cat stretches up to scratch! It's attractive, sturdy and fits the bill.
A Great Find!

My cats took to this right away. I sat it next to the dining room floor window, and it's become a favored perch. I was originally attracted to this, because it was going in a formal room, and I wanted something nice and tidy-looking. With the low price, I was worried it would be cheaply made. Not! It surprisingly heavy-duty. Note: I have big cats. The jute is more attractive than shag carpet. I was also surprised to find the easy-to-assemble claim accurate! Most of the time, ANY assembly makes me crazy. Simple instruction-pic and a little tool included, and I had it together in 5 min. I'm really impressed with this product, and will look into more PetPal items!
Owner's OK but Kitties are not

I found it okay but unfortunately my kitties did not and they are the ones who would be using it. It was only 1inch higher than their old one but the scratching post was different and apparently that it was they don't like.

What I like best about this is that there are two columns to support the top part. The last cat scratch tower I had was only one column and then a top section that they expected the cat to lay in, but it was so wobbly and unsupportive that my cats never used it. With this cat scratcher, the two columns are very sturdy and support my fat cats wonderfully - one of my kitties figured this out quickly and has designated it his throne. :) It's the perfect size for my tiny apartment and effectively serves as a claw sharpener. However, they only sharpen their claws on that top part, not the columns themselves. I think they would be more apt to use it if the columns were covered in a more twine-like string that they can dig their claws into. This one is covered in very solid cardboard, almost wooden-like. Not really ideal. But that's okay, as long as they are using this thing and not my couch, I don't really care. It was easy to put together and my cats like it, so I recommend it!
Good quality for a great price

I was a little worried about the quality of the product when I first ordered it, but I was pleasantly surprised after I put it together. The wood in the base and top is quite thick, and once put together the whole thing is really sturdy. I've only had the item a few days so I can't say for sure how much my cat likes it (like with most cats it takes her a few days to get used to something). The fiber used around the actual scratching posts seems kind of hard, so I don't know how well my cat will be able to use them. The top area is more than large enough for my cat as well, she is ~9-10lbs so she is small/medium in size. I'm happy and satisfied with this product!
