I love the Paula Deen Southern Gathering Dinner Plates. They are nice and heavy and good quality. I plan to gradually add other pieces of the dinnerware--buying them separate was more economically and allows me to buy just the pieces I need. I don't need coffee cups or saucers. This way I can buy just the dinner plates, salad plates, soup bowls and salad bowls in groups of four. I consider this to be a great value for the quality

Heavy duty.

Very thick, heavy plates. Apparent good quality (despite being made in China). The brown outer portion is raised with the white center portion lower or depressed. Would have preferred a uniformly smooth surface from edge to edge. I've now owned these plates for less than 3 months and I'm downgrading them from 4 stars to 2. They're advertised as microwave safe and I just had one split in two after 2 minutes in the microwave.
