Turned out to be a great choice. The dresser came packaged extremely well
By Jeepdad on Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2017
I'm expecting my first grandchild in May. Having looked around in local furniture stores and even Walmart for a decent dresser for the baby room, we finally decided on the Delta Children Universal after reading the reviews here. Turned out to be a great choice. The dresser came packaged extremely well. Each piece was individually wrapped, packed and clearly labeled, almost lovingly so -- as if someone at the factory takes pride in this simple concept. It was clear from the onset that the quality of the product is a significant step above what you normally get in typical furniture-in-a-box fare. The the pieces (real wood) are heavy and substantial feeling. We were relieved to see that the color (a nicely finished dark cherry) matches the espresso cherry crib perfectly. It took us about 10 minutes to unbox the pieces and organize them on the carpet. I've put together my share of boxed furniture over the years, and each time I swore it would be my last. I once spend an entire weekend assembling cheap bunk beds and barely came of the experience with my sanity and dignity intact. Assembling this dresser was time consuming (about 2 hours) but simple -- thanks to good instructions and a design that relies on just a handful of different bolts/screws. My daughter and I actually had fun teaming up and watching the furniture take shape. A huge engineering plus is the lack of "cam lock and nut" bolts, which if you've assembled furniture before you know how worthless those things can be. A tip: a cordless screwdriver makes the job so much easier. Once assembled, the dresser itself rivals many we saw at at the furniture stores. It's sturdy, looks far from cheap, and just feels like something that should last for many years. The dresser is bigger than we thought for being a children's dresser, which is good. It's the perfect height for a baby changing pad. Just one nitpick: there are bolts (8 total) that go into the legs of the dresser, essentially attaching the sides of the dresser to the frame. The bolt heads show. It would be nice if Delta would provide some plugs or something to hide these holes. As I look at the photos provided on Amazon, these bolts aren't evident -- so I'm not sure what's going on there. Still, it's hardly noticeable and not something that should sway someone's buying decision one way or the other. Overall, 5 stars. We are very pleased. The dresser it already stuffed with onesies and cloth diapers, ready for the big day.

Pieces Don’t Fit
By Candy on Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2023
The **** this dresser has put me through. I don’t know if they just don’t do quality checks at this company or what, but just skip this product. Being 9 months pregnant, it took me about 5 hours to build the frame alone. That part was fine and expected. Of course, when I’m finished the LAST DRAWER I realize that not only is the front of the dresser drawer completely scuffed up and scratched, one of the major wood pieces to build the drawer is cracked AND not cut wide enough to fit the bottom of the drawer. My partner worked in construction for years and thought he may be able to fix it. Turns out it is completely unfixable and looks completely awful and scratched from the front anyway. So in short we wasted about 75 dollars trying to fix a 10 cent drawer piece just for it to not fit on the tracks anyway and have a dramatic slant. Before I forget, half of the tracks in the drawers are smooth and half of them make a loud clank that I cannot imagine a baby would find very pleasant, so I was already very unhappy with that. Since our apartment is 900sqft and it took us over a WEEK of trying to fix before entirely giving up on it, we obviously don’t still have the ginormous box since it was a massive tripping hazard and bug breeding ground. When I tried to contact them for a replacement piece so we could at least have a finished dresser (even if it was cheap and half of the tracks don’t work), I could not even request the piece without still having the box and a bunch of other crap. Now, I’m due in 2-4 weeks and needing to spend hundreds more dollars finding a dresser/changing table. Obviously replacing this piece is a waste of time, and if I donated it, it would end up trashed since it couldn’t even be completed. Do yourself a favor and skip Delta Children’s.
