Not near as good as my previous Casio watches
By UTPDC on Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2023
I have worn Casio watches since I was in junior high school and loved them for the most part. I have owned primarily the Casio Databank watches and my last one was the Databank 300 and the one prior to that was the Databank 150. Both were wonderful with lots of features and each lasted anywhere from 8 to 15 years before they finally gave out. My Databank 300 was my favorite so when it finally stopped working and my local watch repair place was unable to do anything with it, I looked for a current one similar to it. I ended up choosing this model, the Casio Men's Silver Tone 25 Memory Calculator Databank Watch as it seemed to be the best of what was available. It's OK I guess, but just doesn't have the same features as my previous Casio Databank watches. As other reviewers have noted, the light on this watch absolutely SUCKS to put it bluntly. My Databank 300 had the light button on the front and the entire face of it glowed to make it very easy to see in the dark. This one has a very faint yellow light on the left that barely illuminates the first two digits of the time and you can barely make out the minutes of the hour. Plus, the light only stays on about two seconds at most. It's basically worthless to even have on the watch. Something else I miss that was great on my old Databank 300 was the World Time function. With it, I could scroll through ALL the time zones in the world and each one was listed with a 3 letter abbreviation of the primary city in that time zone such as NYC for eastern, CHI for central, DEN for Mountain, LAX for Pacific, etc. and major cities in other countries like LON for the UK/GMT, PAR for Paris, France, etc. This was very helpful to me since I travel quite a bit and enabled me not to have to keep changing the time on my watch. This Casio though, only has a "Dual Time" function so you have your regular time set for your home area and then you have to manually change the time to whatever it is in the place you are in under that "Dual Time" function. There are no city abbreviations to help designate it either. Also, you had better have really good close-up vision to see some of the characters on the watch front too as several are microscopic. The "A" for AM is extremely small plus you have to have adequate light and hold the watch at just the correct angle to even tell it from the "P" for PM. The placement of the year and day of the week and month are in different places than what I'm used to with my previous Databank 300 as well as my even older Databank 150. The year on this one is more prominent than the month/day too which is very odd and kind of stupid. Furthermore, this one does not have a countdown timer like all my previous Casio Databanks. It does have a stop watch function, but that's it. In summary, it's an "OK" watch, but I've been quite disappointed that Casio has deleted or drastically changed several of the functions and not for the better. it's like they went backwards in their technology instead of staying where they were or improving functions. Side note: Casio is known as being a Japanese company and has always had a great reputation for their electronic products. Interestingly, this watch was made in CHINA whereas all my previous Casio watches were actually made in either Japan, Taiwan or Thailand. Kind of odd to me that a Japanese company would have their products made in China given the history between the two countries.
