Good Value for the Price

I bought this on an impulse to try out a short chef knife. It comes out of the box sharp. The construction is not robust but is adequate for prepping small vegetables like garlic or mushrooms. It is easy to sharpen. The orange coating on the blade repels water. Holding it up to strong sunlight I was able to see that the tang goes into the plastic handle about 1 1/2 inch. I would not try it for any work that requires much force. All in all it is very suitable for light duty in my kitchen. For $15 US this is a good value.

I got this for my 7 year old to help in the kitchen. It is good, but what I found better is "OXO Good Grips Professional 4-Inch Mini Santoku", which has a better hand grip, less sharp point, and overall more balanced feeling. As an adult, I also prefer the Oxo one to use for small jobs.
