Cole & Mason Electric Salt & Pepper Set

I owned a previous pair of C&M battery powered s&p mills, so when they fell apart after many years, I naturally ordered the latest version. What a mistake that was. The Salt mill works but is erratic and unpredictable. It won't grind about half the time. The pepper mill is worse. It powers up and works but doesn't grind anything. I've tried adjusting the coarseness wheel on the bottom but it makes no difference, on either of the two units. The worse part is, I've been messing with these things for several months, thinking they just have to "break in" or some such nonsense but this is not the case. So you're saying, just send them in for warranty repairs. Easy, Right? Here's their warranty repair policy, copied directly from the product page right here on Amazon: " Electronic Mills have a 12 month guarantee on the grinding mechanism and body. Unfortunately, we do not hold spare parts for these mills nor can they be repaired. If you have a problem with a mill within the 12 month guarantee period, you should return it to the retailer along with the original sales receipt as proof of purchase." Now I have to deal with the Amazon customer service people, who will surely be resistant to having this item returned. But I'll do it anyway-then go buy a different brand that actually works. NOT RECOMMENDED! Cole & Mason is just another seller of cheap crap and doesn't deserve your business.
