Get This Instead Of An IR Knob Model
By Sailordude on Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2016
I would say that in it's category of under $100 IR ovens this is a great buy so I am reviewing it a 5, I genuinely appreciate this appliance and use it as opposed to using a microwave to reheat food. My Wife and I have been using this model oven for the last 6 months and we use it often. We got it at first because we had just moved and the existing appliances were on their last legs and we had no oven. It was excellent as an main oven replacement for us and we generally used it for baked chicken and meat such as steak and lamb as well as fish and shrimp, We have a round pyrex dish we place on the lower rack and put the meat and spices and vegetables like onions and mushrooms and it comes out generally excellent (if I didn't overcook it, lol) We just got new appliances and now have an oven so use it less but it's still very convenient and still use it even when cooking the main course. If I would say a few negatives, it's hard to get a round dish out because the glass bowl is deep so may not work for many. I suggest using a square dish with handles. Also, the presets are not all that great and are just the same temperature with different times. I would recommend this digital model over all the dial models as it is easier to read and control and more accurate. I never measured the temp and have no idea how close it is to the temperature you input (I need a thermometer, lol). However I much prefer this oven to a conventional toaster oven which I had used before to reheat foods but not really to cook with like this IR oven. The glass bowl has a manufacturer reference to a French glass company and it cleans excellently with a basic rinse in the sink with a sponge. It's a nice bowl and I will keep it after the oven part dies. 5 stars for my satisfaction. for its price range it's a good deal and I appreciate it.

It does the job, but ...

I've used glass convection ovens for years and have loved them. They're quick and easy and far preferable for me than firing up the big oven all the time.My one major complaint about this model that I haven't experienced in any of the others I've used is that it collects condensate on the bottom of the oven - a LOT of condensate. And it's gross - obviously it collects grease too, and then sits on the bottom. I don't know why there is such moisture build-up - I don't know if that's normal and the result of the halogen and infrared aspects of it (my prior ovens have all be convection only) or if it's a venting design issue. Either way, I don't like it. Oh, and don't drop food into that water - it's a truly repulsive kind of gravy! On the plus side, it cooks well (albeit somewhat unevenly the closer you get to the heating unit) and I LOVE how this creates a nice char when I want it to.If you're deciding between this and the non-digital version, I'd say take the non-digital. The temperature settings on the presets on the digital one are too similar and I end up always adjusting the cooking times and the temperatures anyway.
