High Quality, Easy to Clean

This compost bin is the perfect choice if you are collecting compost for a backyard compost pile. I bought this to collect kitchen scraps to add to my cold compost bin. The container, lid, and handle are all solid metal, so I don’t expect any breakage for the foreseeable future.It is super easy to rinse out after taking out the compost. I don’t use any bags, and I’ve just had to quickly rinse this before using it again. There are no crevices or areas that would be hard to clean if something got crusted on.So far, it has contained the smell of the scraps just fine - though we empty it into the backyard at least once a week. As an added bonus, it looks sleek and doesn’t have the word “compost” on it like so many other products out there. We aren’t going to forget what it’s for, and it’s sleek and fits right in to our kitchen decor.

Problem with fruit flies in composter

It is a good size. The problem I had with this is that it attracted fruit flies which were able to enter I think through the vented filter lid. They were then breeding in the compost. I think I will have to get a unit without the filter and a tight fitting lid.
