It's well made, and solid. The inside is raw cast iron, not enameled, so it will rust if you don't season and care for it properly; it's also rough inside, like all modern cast iron. The size is best for individual servings, or for warmed dips and sauces. It's perfect if you have a craving for apple crumble but don't want the guild of eating an entire pan of apple crumble. With this, you can use just one apple! If it's meant as a gift though, you should probably get 2 and give them a matching pair.
