My girlfriends cat scratches this and not my couch or my face so it seems to do its job, bravo, here's 5 stars. I run over and beat her cat to the post sometimes, it really throws her off, you should try it ...and meow really loud and hiss anytime someone walks then send me the video, I plomise I won't post it on YouTube.

Way too short to be used for intended purpose

I want to say that it's my fault for not looking at the dimensions when I ordered this, but in all fairness I don't think it's reasonable to ever expect a product used for this purpose to be this small. My cat is an average sized cat, nothing too big, and scratching vertically is a way for cats to not only sharpen their claws but also to stretch out their spines. This thing is so short that my cat cannot use it vertically at all, and I can't imagine that any cat larger than a kitten could. Plus the material doesn't seem to be appealing enough for her to want to use the base either. My bad for not doing more research, but a product this size either shouldn't be sold or it should be clearly labelled for very very small animals.
