Creature Report! Creature Report!
By April Blake on Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2015
My 3-year-old is wild about the Octonauts right now. Seriously. She's seen pretty much every episode and we sing along to all the Creature Reports with gusto and confidence. She can identify each Gupp on sight. For Christmas, my parents gifted her with the Octopod, the Gupp-A and the Gupp-B, along with action figures of Captain Barnacles, Kwasii, and Peso. We have twin Barnacles and Kwasiis, and I guess when I give her this set for Valentine's, we'll have triples of the two of them, but it's worth it to round out the Octo-Crew. I mean, if you're going to have the Octopod and Gupps, you pretty much need Tweak to keep them in working order. You have to have Tunip to keep the crew in Fish Biscuits, and if Tunip's around, Shellington needs to be nearby so he can translate. I'm not really sure if Dashii and Professor Inkling are all *that* essential, but I'm sure their absence would be felt around the Octopod if they weren't there. I opted not to buy the ADDITIONAL Vegemals expansion pack, because Tunip is really the only one who actually interacts and has a proper name, and we don't need twin Tunips around here for the sake of having all the rest of the nondescript little Vegemals around. (They're like the LGMs from Buzz Lightyear: Space Ranger- you've seen one, you've seen 'em all.) All in all, though, these little figures are adorable, and I know that my daughter will love playing with them, because she loves playing with the Octonauts she already has (and she DOES take attendance at each session and asks where everybody else is). We're planning an Octonauts crossover with a plastic canvas canned ham travel trailer set, because the Octonauts are the right size to populate that as well as the Octopod and Gupps that we already have, so I think we'll get our money's worth and hours of imaginative play out of these figures.

Can’t get them to sit or stand upright!
By Sandra D on Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2018
Bought these for my octonauts obsessed four year old. He obviously loves them because he loves everything octonauts, but I’m a bit disappointed with the quality and function. The paint on captain barnacles is pretty smudged and - more importantly - almost none of the characters actually sit or stand, despite having jointed legs. It’s like they are too top heavy and imbalanced and they just fall right over! So, while my son loves them, he can’t stand or sit them up on the table - they just have to lay there! Kind of a bummer, especially considering the price.
