DD-WRT - What you need to know.
By S.D. on Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2015
You CAN flash DD-WRT on here fairly easy. HOWEVER, you must use the older flash files ( http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/other-downloads?path=betas%2F2014%2F ) 06-23-2014-r24461 or earlier (from the writing of this review). Any of the newer firmwares cause WAN or Radio issues. Once you know this its as simple as logging in and using the built in web-flash utility to flash over to full DD-WRT. The unit itself provides good, strong connection on either radio (dual 2.4 & 5Ghz).

Supplier may have sold me old, or used, equipment. Caveat Emptor
By Craig Schwartz on Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2020
I bought my WHR-600 in March 2020, in Aug 2020 (now) it started failing, needing a reboot every morning. The manufacturer, Buffalo, had this to say: "The router you have is possibly a used device as the serial number provided shows it was manufactured back in 2013 and has not been sold by Buffalo for quite some time. The symptoms you are seeing can possible be from either malfunctioning firmware or a failing wireless antenna. I would recommend a factory reset and seeing if the issue persists after." I've had to buy another wifi router. Not happy . I expected it to last more than 4 months
