Absolutely perfect waffles!
By Matthew McGinley (real name™) on Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2025
I cannot say anything bad about this waffle iron. It worked perfectly. My first waffle from it is picture below. I came out perfect, except that you need about eight minutes, four on each side to get a really good, brown perfect waffle. I followed the directions on the Krusteaz pancake mix by adding two cups of dry mix to 1-1/2 cups cold water, one egg, 1/4 cup melted margarine (or butter, next time), and 3 table spoons sugar. It made exactly four perfect waffles. They were a little on the soft side when they came out, but I made them a bit crispier by putting them in my air fryer for four minutes at 400. Yes, this iron gets very hot, and yes, you will see steam pouring out the sides during cooking. I prefer to eat waffles like a kid: finger food. Give me a side of melted butter, and a side of maple syrup, and then dip in each to eat. Heaven. I think it is silly to eat waffles like it was a steak! LOL, but that's just me. The manual said a little smoke on first startup, and it did for about two minutes. Then I set it aside for a week, and it was wonderful. Takes about two minutes to preheat. I put it aside unplugged until I need it. Highly recommended. Excellent price and elegant on my countertop, too. Why spend more? Even if it lasts only a year, and I'm thinking it will last a lot longer than that.(a word of caution: don't be tempted to spray Pam or non-stick on it as advised in the manual, as it will mess up the non-stick surface. The butter or margarine in the waffle batter does half the work. And pull your waffle out with your bare hands, and don't use a fork). These waffles cool off in about two minutes, so serve right away, or hold in the oven at 175. You can wrap tight and freeze them like Eggo's for up to four months. Have fun!

Lightweight plastic
By Kathleen on Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2025
I was surprised that this Bella product was mostly lightweight plastic. Make sure you read directions as it operates a little differently than other waffles irons I had. It heats up quickly but the waffle ready light is really just a suggestion. Even on the highest setting I still needed to cook it longer to get the crispy waffles we like. It doesn’t steam at the sides or have a timer It is non stick with a light coating of oil on the plates Plan on discarding the first waffle and don’t use spray shortening as it is more difficult to clean Wipe clean with a paper towel as you can’t immerse it in water or remove plates. You have to fill the whole plate to get the full size waffle as the batter does not spread when lid is closed and rotated I don’t make waffles a lot or for a lot of people so it is durable enough for me and the price is right Storing is easy because of it’s small size I suggest using your own recipe because the one in the booklet is not a Belgian waffle
