Really happy with it!

I thought this desk was well designed. At first I thought the instructions were a little lacking, but the drawings were numbered and very clear. The project assembled very well.My only real complaint was the slightly textured surface. Why on earth would anyone create a drawing surface that wasn’t completely smooth? The back side certainly is, and don’t think I didn’t look at reversing it!The texture may not be enough to cause me problems. If it does, then I’ll just add a vinyl cover like I had to do with my first drafting table that I got 45 years ago. It folded up and if it hadn’t stupidly given it away, I wouldn’t have needed this one.But this is a decent replacement and I’ll be content with it.**UPDATE**Well, after months I finally used the desk. I have no worries. I thought the texture on the desk surface would transfer to a drawing. It doesn’t. I used 20lb printer paper and a 0.7mm pencil and only got smooth lines. It’s great. The stool? Well, it’s built like a rock. I’ma big boy and it didn’t feel anything but solid. Very solid. So solid that you will likely need a cushion. It started to hurt after awhile.*** Second Update ***I’ve been using the table daily for awhile now. The stool is gone, I have replaced it with my comfy rocking chair that I’ve had for 40 years. I certain the arms would be in the way, but it was like it was made for it. I could not be any happier. This thing is absolutely perfect!

It will do it's job, but a few complaints....

My daughter (12 years old) wanted an art table for her bedroom and I liked the way this one looked (matched the colors of her room very well). For the price, I knew what I was getting, and I thought it would work just fine.Pros: Sturdy. Once put together (which took about 75 minutes and I work slow and meticulously) it seemed pretty sturdy and felt like it would hold up well. I am not a fan of allen key furniture because the bolts always come loose with use. I can go back and Loctite them later I suppose.Colors: Colors look good. The storage pieces are your typical unfold and drop in bottom type. They seem pretty durable and look like they're decently made. I expect them to stand up to the use she'll give it over time. The white top and shelf pieces have good color, not off white in any way.Structure: Metal pieces fit together easily, no misaligned holes, all hardware was present. Assembly was easy and smooth, although the instructions are just pictures of the parts. No direction as to which pieces to put together first. But overall, it was easy to build and seems like it will hold up.CONS: As you can see in the photos, there was some damage to the parts. The bottom backer board for the bottom shelf had damage to the laminate. The laminate is very very very thin and I'm expecting more to peel off over time. I felt like this could be hidden due to the location this part occupied, so I continued with the assembly.Bent parts. The other two photos are of the frame where the drawers slide in. Two levels were bent and misaligned. The metal is very thin and was easily bent back into shape. However, this makes me worry that they will bend and eventually break on use.Packaging: Big, gigantic disaster. The box arrived with physical damage to the outside. When I opened the box, everything was loose and all the parts were bumping against each other. The styrofoam is the worst type, where you barely touch it and it flakes little styrofoam balls off everywhere. It barely did its job in keeping the pieces from being damaged on shipping. I highly recommend the seller look into a slightly better packing solution.Overall, I'd give it 3.5 stars. It looks nice in the room, and I'm sure it'll work fine and hopefully hold up. But getting brand new items with physical damage (and damage that didn't appear to be due to shipping and handling) is very frustrating.
