Owned for 2+ Years - Never Had a Problem!
By Cay James on Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2020
I'm not sure what's going on with the negative ratings because I've been using this tension rod for almost 3 years now and not only has it stayed up but I almost forgot that it was a tension rod! I needed this tension rod to hold up some blackout curtains for my sliding glass door-so you know that those curtains had to be heavy! I bought these back in September 2018, hung up these curtains right here ---> MIUCO Room Darkening Grommet Blackout Window Curtains Panels for Bedroom Set of 2 52x84 Inch and despite the fact that I've had to open those curtains every day, not one time has this tension rod fallen. So I highly suggest that if you're being influenced by the negative reviews, take some time and read what they have to say and then ask yourself whether or not they're being reasonable because I've noticed that some of them will complain that it doesn't stay up only to find out that they been using the tension rod for something else that it clearly wasn't made for. Others will hang up a curtain rod inside of a window pane that was painted with sheer paint as opposed to flat paint (which would definitely lead to the tension rod slipping) and then get mad because it slipped! So you kind of have to get a feel for the common sense of each person who's reviewing these products. As for myself, again, I've had these for 2+ years, they've been holding up heavy blackout curtains and not once have I had a problem with it. I would definitely buy it again if I needed another one.

Slips on paint, easy fix
By Michael D. Wolf on Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2021
At first, you could literally watch it slip as soon as you installed it. The problem was due to the type of plastic used at the ends to "grip", and the fact that this plastic seems to find the paint finish in my window frame a bit slippery. The rod did not just slip off - if compressed itself first, then fell down. Once installed, the rubber ends of the rods had so little resistance against the paint, that the ends simply spun in place until the rod compressed enough to fall. The solution was simple - put something between the rod's plastic tip and the paint that would not slip against either the plastic or the paint. I used an index card, and cut 2 squares large enough to cover the plastic ends. Place the piece of paper between the wall and the plastic, secure first end, then do the same to other end. It may be tricky to compress and slip a piece of paper between the rod's plastic tip and the wall. However, the paper does the trick, and provides the grip against the paint that the plastic tip alone could not. Other reviews recommend scuffing the paint a bit to provide more grip, and extending more than the 0.5 inch instructions recommend. I extended as much as I could and still insert it in the window frame. Note I am using the 54-90" rod for a 60" wide window, and it is holding without the center bracket.
