Cuisinart Pineapple Slicer

I purchased this at the grocery store for around $12. I have a plastic one and wanted to "upgrade" to this beautiful stainless steel tool. It failed during the first use. Cuisinart should be embarrassed to have their name on this poorly made product. Poor Design: 1. The disc that cuts as it rotates is not welded to the shaft. It is held in place by tabs that are pressure fitted. They don't keep the disc in place, causing it to ride up the shaft during use. Instead of cutting the pineapple downward as you twist, you end up with a mutulated/partially cut piece of fruit. (See picture.) 2. The handle attaches to the shaft with buttons that are supposed to "pop out" after you place them into the shaft. They are not fixed inside the handle and become jammed inside the handle, so they do not anchor the handle. Sure, you can carefully reposition those "buttons" before each use, but you shouldn't have to. (See picture) The only positive thing that I can say about this is that the blades are sharp, but they are useless for their intended purpose because you need a stable handle and fixed disc holding the blades in order for them to work properly.
